Last week i was on the phone to my momma. We had chatted for a good half hour without arguing so it was all going well

Suddenly she said: what is happening with your lovelife.

I said : Mum I am your daughter and a free spirit u dont need to ask questions that even angels fear to ask ;D

She said :daughter you need to calm down.

I in turn asked her: Have you calmed down? ;D

We both fell on the floor laughing at that. Have you ever had your mum trying to give you advice on something she is exactly guilty of? or do you have a mum after whom you take so much in every way who is always trying to point out what you should do or shouldnt do while she carries on exactly in the same manner?

I came forth out of my mother's loins and although it has taken me a while i am coming more and more into the realisation and gratitude of having been born to one of the greatest women who ever graced the surface of this earth.

In reflecting i look at my life and i look about the marvellous women who have contributed and who have run across my path. I would not be where/who i am today without them. I have been blessed with extraordinary women right out of my family down to the friendships i have made.

Oh the sweet sweet fellowship of sisterhood-it reminds me of a garland of nectarines dripping with various juices all of them as sweet as the other and yet unique.

Garlands -that is how i will describe the women who have blessed my life and that is why i dedicate this post to discussing them.

This is a wonderful post for its beauty and humor and for opening the door to a room aka "our mothers, ourselves" which so many of us (keita raises BOTH hands!) truly need to visit and have a seat in.

Amen amen Keita!! Yes indeed many times i have been called asupi by the men in my life. That is a nigerian term for a woman who loves women and finds everything about them attractive except for the sexual aspect.

I am not ashamed to say i love the feminine and everything about it. I feel no need to apologise for my womanhood-including the tears, pouting and tantrums that go with it.


I also believe that men were put on this earth to look after women, to care for them and nurture them be it in a fatherly/brotherly role or as husbands. In short i believe that men were put here to take the brunt of things so that we women can glide around in fluffy little pink sable jackets stress free ;D

My mama is in love. It is strange seeing the woman who has always been this rock all shy and giggly now confiding in me about how he gives her goose pimples lawd have mercy!!!!

Now if u knew my momma u would understand where i am coming from especially in view of the fact that we had a very difficult relationship when i was growing up.

She was a constant thorn in my flesh so to speak lol and vice versa she might probably say.

Today she is a mighty woman of God and a great intercessor-i feel her prayers literally stalking me lol.

awwwwwwwww this post is so sweet. I trully enjoyed this. I can relate. I do give thanks to God for my mother and for my spiritual mothers as well. Like sister BEE said I wouldn't be where I am today if God hadn't put these wonderful mothers in my life.................. I am especially greatful for my spiritual mother for nuturing me in the Lord, for praying me through different things in my life and for just being there and taking me under her wing. For taking me in even when my own mother kicked me out the house because her husband didn't like us girls and she eventually kicked my lil brother out too. She basically choose her husband over her own kids. I don't know how anyone could ever do , I know I couldn't put my kids out. Anyway, I don't want to ruin the vibe of this post, but I am a witness that when your mother and you father forsake you then the Lord will take thee up. Amina!
