I'm teaching a singles class this weekend and wanted to incorporate some of the great responses we got on the JBM board when we ran this list.

The question is...

What do you wish someone would have told you when you got first married?

I wish that a young pastor, newly married did not tell me that six months would be all that is necessary to develope a 'smooth' relationship. (He later recanted and apologised because he was still trying to smooth things out after one year.

When Dr. David Livingstone was working in Africa, a group of friends wrote him: "We would like to send other men to you. Have you found a good road into your area yet?" According to a member of his family, Dr. Livingstone sent this message in reply:
"If you have men who will only come if they know there is a good road, I don't want them. I want men who will come if there is no road at all."
