If a church does not have funds to assist, then I look to the members of the church to help out from out of pocket "if they can". Now I sort of take the stance of Krazee, when it comes to the church putting out funds because so many ppl use the church and then when one does need help that's in the church they cant help because they have been played. I've seen it my own self.
But I feel like whatever can be done to help a non-member then they should try to help with the basics, or even help with giving information of someone who can help, or give it out of pocket. And dont get me wrong, a lot of ppl who do ask for help are in messed up situations, and in order for you to get a grip on life you need direction, which comes from the word of God. If one is not willing to attend a service to hear the word or they want to gripe about the church not helping until they get ministered to first in the word, then you must not need the help that bad. Because you would be willing to follow some type of instructions, if that's what's required

The problem I have is that, SF... you never answered my question.... Did you bring this young lady to the church and did you do a follow up... Have this young lady attended any service.. She is the one that should sit down with your pastor or any other pastor she seeking help from and explain her situation and how she got into this mess and how she plan to avoid getting back in this mess. They can pay her rent for this month... but what going to happen next month?... Is she willing t be counselled.

if a church lacks in funds, then it must have only 4 or 5 members. Not necessarily. I know some churches that are very "college kids heavy" many of which don't have jobs and therefore the bulk of the funding comes from those who are older and depending on the percentage of college kids to "working adults", it can be very difficult....... that or if your church is in an area where most of the people are impoverished/public assistance/etc. I was being facetious.

To me this is was and still a great opportunity to show someone some kindness. And this is just my thought how many people would she tell that a church assisted her in her time of need ? Sometimes we miss opportunities...me included..
