no he didn't lie about his need for money - he needed money prior to him marrying Sis. Bynum. That was no secret.

This is not the first of many ministry doors that will shut because of lack of funds. Smaller ministries are in the same boat. And sadly many believers are in the same boat not being able to pay their rent and the like. And we have to be honest many church memberships have fallen off because many are losing their jobs, and are barely making ends meet. I personally believe it's excess to rent a building, suite, and etc. He rented a school auditorium when he was in Maryland..during this hour much wisdom is needed for everyone..

That's the truth. We all will have to make adjustments. I believe that believers will be well taken care of. But there will/may still be need for adjustments financially. I've seen what I see is just pride sometimes in preachers. If you have the support to have and do certain things then go for it. But pastors have to learn to do what they teach us to do and stop living beyond what they are able. God will still give favor and yes we will always have to live by faith. But I'm reminded of when the Lord told me that you can't use faith as a substitute for good stewardship.
So a person may have to move from a larger house to a smaller house. The same way a ministry might have to move to a smaller building. There's no sin in that. But we often seem to think it means we are less if we do something like that. Or that we don't have faith. When what it really means is that we are being good stewards over what God has given us.
I also honestly believe that the only reason this was publicized like this is because of who he was married to. It's gonna be like this for him from now on, I bet. Many other pastors are getting locked out and put out of there buildings.

When 50% of your congregation disappeared, and you about to be evicted because you are over $50,000 behind in rent... Your should have move quickly to a less expensive place and started up ongoing programs that will generate cash...
Down sizing don't mean going bad...

Whatever happend to "let's drop the issue and just pray?" LOL! I don't know, sis. Apparently, as is often the case. we don't all agree about that approach, but perhaps it bears repeating: Now I'm not one who attempts to stifle or stop any respectful discussion of any topic that folks choose to have on this board. But I am known to press hard for some "redirection". Because again, as I've often noticed, especially with the multitude of JB/TW threads, there are those who choose to discuss the "subject(s)" (which on this thread is TW), and those who choose to discuss the "issue(s)" (in this case, churches in financial crisis). I think there is a big difference between the two perspectives. The former may be easier (and even a lot more entertaining), but, imho, the latter makes for much more relevant and fruitful discussion.

I also honestly believe that the only reason this was publicized like this is because of who he was married to. I agree with sis vin that name recognition (along with the even more serious motive of attempting to shame the Body of Christ) is among the reasons that secular media rushes to report stories like this as well as current ones like: But I believe their doing so is also, and more importantly intended to alert us that: Which is why, like many here, I think the issue is clearly much bigger than TW and Global Destiny, and the scope of our discussion (and response) should and must be as well. I, for one, appreciate that most of us are at least willing to face that MANY "church leaders" have been really bad and even wicked stewards, and so have MANY of us, as "church members". Because I believe that inasmuch as the Body of Christ has behaved like the world, particularly in the area (at this time) of finances, we will, just as GOD said we would, experience the same judgment and consequences as the world. But unlike the world, and as many are speaking to on this thread, we actually do have a "fool-proof" way to fix our mess...HIS.

My heart goes out to Bishop Weekes and his church as a fellow sister in Christ. Those of us who are familiar with eviction understand that it is not such a cut and dried issue.
In every situation there are always things that we could have done better, planned better etc however life does not always translate that way. To anyone being chased out of a building is never one's choice and so just the same way that if it was the pastor down the street, myself or the people sleeping under bridges my heart goes out to them.
I thank God that they at least have been able to find somewhere to meet. God's blessing and help to all struggling churches selah

He knew for a long time that He was having financial problems, but yet He still kept have conferences (that cost money to have) and writing books (that global destiny publishes). Sometimes you just need to use common sense. Like there's no point in writing a book about telling other people on how to become a millionaire when you're no where to being one yourself. That's just waisting money, paper, ink and time. And promoting the next Mrs. weeks when you have bigger things to worrying about. This is not the first time this has happened to him which should tell him something.
You have to think before you do things especially when there's other peoples money involve and people are counting on you to make decisions and do what's right.

It doesn't matter what he knew or did not know. What is now very important is how this congregation be restored. They have had a very hard year..no longer can the body of Christ stand and not accept it's responsibility for the brokeness and devastaion we see before us. And I am very sure that everyone has felt the effects of the state of the economy our country is in. Many churches operate on the tithes and offerings of the people and many times there is no money left for anything else..and sadly, many Pastors don't disclose the fact that there is a financial need and shortage to their congregations..I found that pride is no joke and it doesn't take names..it just destroys everything in it's past.

Bishop lost over 90% of his congregation and now having financial problem.... not because of the present economic situation, but because of what took place during his failing marriage.... he made bad decisions and now he paying for it (I know, JB too, but this isn't about her). He should have move out quickly into a hotel and moved his publishing company into an inexpensive office building. I hope he didn't lose all those expensive equipments, some worth $100,000 or close to it. He should have put his ppl on the street to evangelize bringing new souls into the church and into the Kingdom... I don't think souls are important in that church, I don't know. All these Birth Out conferences... Forever birthing, but never producing souls
I am sorry this happen to him.... At least he can afford an hotel cof. room. When thing like this happen unstable ppl run...

Bishop Weeks $411,000.00 debt has been paid. He says by donations people have given. He stated there is still a little bit more that has to be paid and he was asking for more donations. I don't know, something still doesn't seem right to me. I just hope and pray He does right by this money people are sending in.
