The 29-year-old son of popular TV evangelist T.D. Jakes was arrested after allegedly whipping out his private in front of two undercover vice detectives in a Dallas park last month, CBS 11 News reports.
According to a Dallas Police report, Jermaine Jakes was charged with indecent exposure on Jan. 3 after the incident at Keist Park.
The police affidavit says that Jakes walked up to one of the two detectives at the park with his pants unzipped. He then began to masturbate while making eye contact with the detective, according to the document.
Faith Johnson, an attorney for Jermaine Jakes, issued a statement that read: "We are aware of potential allegations involving Jermaine Jakes and are undertaking our own investigation of these allegations at this time. Given an apparent government investigation, we have no further comment at this time."
Jermaine’s father is the renowned pastor of the 30,000-member mega-church Potter’s House in Dallas.

I really don't like how the media take stuff and run with it and there is a clip of the new broadcast also. Suspect Jakes was photographed and released pending an at large case filing for Indecent exposure. Suspect Jakes committed the offense of indecent exposure by exposing his erect penis in a public place with his intent to gratify or arouse the sexual desire of himself. Suspect Jakes was reckless about whether another was present who would be offended or alarmed by his actions. This offense occured in Dallas, Dallas county Texas." |

This is really sad..our children (young and old) are crying out for help. This is a hard reminder of the sublties of the devil..we can be so busy doing the "work of the ministry"..and ministering to others that we lose focus and sometimes are not able to detect what is going with our own. I have a cd by Bishop Jakes that mentions his having to come off the road because of what was going in his own home. Lord, please comfort and cover this family...

after reading the statement you wrote and also reading what the Affidavit it does sound like he was using the bathroom.......outside
hmmmmmmmm.....no wonder ....I think..............thats why he haven't turn his self in yet.. Per media..

He went into the wooded area by himself, he was not exposing himself to the public. I wonder why the cop follow him?

It wasn't just him. It was him and some other men. They went together, but he is the one who was recogized because of who his father is. The story said there had been complaints of sexual activity.
I've seen those twins. I don't remember now if it was BOTH of them but ONE them is extremely feminine. When I first saw him I thought, "Oh Boy". At the time it seemed like he was holding on for dear life because of who his father is. But he was way gone way back then.
This story just made me be reminded that we all have mess to deal with. His oldest daughter got pregnant as a teen. So have many others. It's easy to say that our kids are jacked up because of what we do....but they have their own decisions to make. They have to fight their own battles and come to know God personally for themselves.
What I admire about Bishop Jakes is that he doesn't try to pretend like there is nothing wrong in his life. He doesn't preach like all is peaches and creme in his family. He gets upset too. He gets frustrated. You can tell when he preaches that he feels the same things we feel.

I just recent heard Bishop Jakes speak and he said that there are some things that you think you have dealt with that pop up again..yet, he also said not to get stuck during this season. He spoke of transition and that there is a shift coming..where there will be transferance of wealth from the hands of the wicked to those who are righteous. It was great because the atomsphere was awesome..and it seemed whatever was going on in his family did not hinder him..

I think we all have to learn how to do that too SF. So many times as Christians and leaders we let our families just cripple us. We take ownership of their sins and behavior. A sister at my church, my age recently had a stroke worrying about her GROWN son. And he's out there doing what he's big and bad enough to do. I hate to see that. I know those are our babies but when our health and well being is on the line, when our mental health is on the line, when our ministry and growth are stunted over worrying, there is a problem. I'm so glad that Bishop Jakes hasn't let his children's and other issues stop him. I'm glad he kept preaching because he has helped me many times. The same with any anointed leaders. If they crawled under a rock because their kids were tripping, who would preach the gospel?

T.D. Jakes Supports His Fallen Stepson By BET.com
Bishop T.D. Jakes said this week that he’s there for his 29-year-old stepson, Jermaine, who was charged with indecent exposure in a Dallas park early last month.
Bishop T.D. Jakes “It is in moments like these that I am so grateful that we do not preach that we are the solution, but we look to Christ for resolution,” the high-profile pastor of Potter’s House wrote in a statement to the Dallas Morning News.
“So then, as a very human family with real issues, like many other people, we will draw from the same well of grace to which we have led others to drink and be refreshed.”
On the night of Jan. 3, Jermaine allegedly exposed himself to an undercover Dallas Police vice detective at Kiest Park. He was arrested at the scene and released, but later turned himself in to the Dallas County Jail. He was then released after posting $1,000 bail. If convicted of the misdemeanor, he could face up to six months in jail and a $2,000 fine.

Yeah, she had the twins before she met and married Jakes. However, I believe they were babies/toddlers when they did meet so he pretty much raised them. |

I never heard that Jakes had stepchildren before either.......but I see how quickly a distinction was made during that interview.....because if most people have raised children since they were babies / toddlers one does not usually identify the child / children as step- children........  |
