Actually as some have touched on before.....Pastors werent "the boss" of the church. The church was governed by a group of elders in which the pastor would be considered one, and they came together to make decisions for the greater good of the ministry/church. There were no hidden secrets as some have today, they probably didnt have a problem with having meetings concerning church finances, and they probably didnt have "too" many problems with power struggles among leadership in the church because there were no BIG I's and little u's. Where in the Bible it says the church were governed by a group of Elders.... and Pastor did not lead.... Who delegated and set elders in the church? MAN Who delegated and set Pastors in the church... JESUS... The first recorded business meeting did not include the congregation till after they came to a decision.. Acts 15:6 Apostles and Elders were together.... You have to understand the office and position of a pastor.... Psalm 23... is a good outline. Look at Moses and David.... Timothy and Titus were not only Apostles they pastored too... They delegated elders in their church. In the Book of Acts, you see nothing about pastors, why .... because the church was at an infant stage.... Bible tell us Jesus gave Pastors to the Church..... It is a calling that can't be desired and a gift to the Church, and an office. AT AT would you please find another way to respond to members without using a wet mop to beat them. We are not little kids, we are brothers and sisters in the Lord. Thank you Sometimes asking a poster to restate or clarify their statements does the job.

Please explain how i am beating the poster down with a wet mop... . there are nothing abusive or hard about my post.... I just asked for scriptures... and I gave my view, not in a mean way... not to down anybody. She had posted, if I'm not mistaken the same view in previous post, which is her view and her belief.... I partially disagree, but not completely... But I do respect her view, we both have the right to express ourselves, at lease I thought... May be everybody but me

coming back to this
I was wondering if we can get a discussion going about the 1st Century Church and how we are so far from it today by going through the book of Acts and the Epistles. Should that be done here or should I start a new thread?

Well I had the Admin add a section under "Digesting the Word". I figure we can discuss how the 1st Century church started and continued and how Paul addressed the situations in each church ...including church government. Does that make sense? We will use a new thread for each chapter of acts discussed.

I hear ya AT, I'll give you some scriptures to better explain my view. And oh yeah AT, the moderator was probably referring to your "boldness" or would you say "assertion" over others. LOL. I guess there are no "wrong" answers to the discussion... But for the most part I see your point of view, and I will share some scriptures with ya to get a better understanding of my view. I'm comin back with them.........
