"Where there is hope, there is light. Where there is no hope, darkness and depression reign. "
Do you agree with this statement?
As believers, how do we define "hope" in our every day life?
We have been taught a lot about faith, and how "we walk by faith, and not by sight." So, is there a contradiction between hope and faith? Or is there a relationship between the two which has been kind of overlooked?
I read that the scripture in Isaiah that we quote as "Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength..." is actually:
" "But those who put their hope in The Lord shall renew their vigor...they shall run and not weary...." (40:31)
Is hope the ingredient which keeps us thriving?

Hope: a strong and confident expectation
While faith and hope are certainly different there are highly related, and work together. You need both Faith & Hope.
Biblically, from the standpoint of the object hoped for, hope is synonymous with salvation and its many blessings, past, present, and future, as promised in Scripture. This is true even with what we have already received as believers because these blessings come under the category of what we cannot see. We may see some of the results, but it still requires faith and hope.
For example, we do not see the justifying work of God, the imputation of Christ’s righteousness to our account, nor do we see the indwelling of the Holy Spirit when we are saved, nor our co-union with Christ. We believe this to be a reality, but this is a matter of our hope. We believe in the testimony of God in the Word and hope for the results in our lives.
Faith is the sustance of things Hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is a rational and thoughtful consideration of evidence. Evidence is real, not imagined, whether material or immaterial. The “substance” of what we hope for is a spiritual reality that eternally unifies us with God.
Faith is, believing that God will do just what He said. Hope,or (confident expenctancy is the in trusting that God will do just what he said.
We have faith to believe that God can do it, but at the same time we can doubt that he really will. Its our HOPE that gives us the confidence to trust, expect and know that God will do it. We may not see it being done, the circumstances around us may predict that it aint being done, but because I hope (trust) that it is being done, my faith believes that its being done, even though I don't see it, I KNOW that God is taking care of the situation.
thats both faith & hope, working together. If there was a lack of either, then it opens the door to doubt, and when you doubtm you will never receive what you "hope" or "believe". because you are now making God out to be a liar.
the expenctancy of knowing that God is not liar, and if he said it it shall come to pass, is enough for me.
thats just what i think...

Noce Jasmine very nice. Our ministry teaches that Faith is actually notsimply one thing but a component of things. One of the compoents of faith IS hope but also believing, trusting, confidence and courage are components of faith as well.
