Well, our chief apostle designates Lent as a time of consecration in his churches. It's really a time to reflect on the moments leading up to the passion of the Lord Jesus. I think special seasons like Lent keep us focused and grounded in what this walk is really all about. We live in a day and age now in which tradition is looked upon, but tradition is what gives us our identity. Christian traditions should be joyous and celebratory, not dead, stoic, and ritualistic.

Lent is that 40 days of observance before resurrection sunday. Although we should be conscious of it daily and not a specific time of year, I still think its good to observe. Lent is a period to abstain from things a time of sacrfice i don't see that as a bad thing.

No problem with Lenten season. What I do have a problem with is FAT TUESDAY AKA MARDI GRAS before Ash Wednesday.
Lord have mercy.
