I just wanted to get the views on what you think about spanking. Are there firm believers out there that if you spare the rod you spoil the child or do some of you think that you don't have to spank, there are other alternatives? I am one of those who are torn. Though I have already started spanking my child, I always regret it after and try to convince myself that it's okay because the Bible admonishes spanking. Does anyone else feel this way? Are there really other ways of disciplining? I really would love to get the views of both parents and future parents ( ) on this.

What is the rod?
On my signature the scripture in micah says " Hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it". Does the rod in "spare the rod" mean spare the belt?? Or simply instruction, correction, and discipline. We all know that discipline is not necessarily spanking your child, however it does help at times.
I have 3 children an 11 year old, a 3 year old, and a 1 year old. whip your butt, is not a foreign languange my 11 year. My 3 and 1 year old, poppin the hands is about the most they get. They don't cry because they got a hand pop, they cry cause their feelings are hurt.
my experiences as a child getting whipped all the time..I made a promise to not do the same thing to my kids. While in some instances it kept me from getting into things I had no business getting it to..I still did some things I wanted and did not care about the whippings at that particular time.

LOL... Miss Kay sounds like you've been touched by the "rod" once or twice...
