Believers meeting in a house church context is exactly what i believe the bible had in mind when it said we should not forsake the assembling together of the saints. I personally do not count conferences, convocations, huge gatherings etc as part of what that verse meant even though i do attend them and believe in them but simply because u dont get discipled at those places. We need to hold whatever meetings we hold in light of God's word-we are told that disciples is what we are to become,we are told to leave behind the elementary stages of God's word and progress to solid meat-does that happen in conferences and when we gather in our thousands etc not really Do we have a chance to grow in settings where only one person speaks all the time-not really. I am not against any church with how God has led them to meet so long as within that church there is a structure of people getting discipled in a small group context in submission to the local body. He may be calling you to start one. I know that there are more people around you who are also wanting more and not speaking up. What if you were the first one to speak up and say, "Lord, I'll do it"? Talk about discipling... You are like the 3rd person who has said this to me. |

forsake not the assembling of yourselves...." I think Hebrews 10:25 is another scripture we need to take a REAL GOOD look at....especially in terms of this discussion. True indeed, for this was thrown at me more than once.  |

Keita, are you standing over my shoulder? I've had another tab open all day studying just that. "Assembling" in that passage has a much broader meaning than what is assumed. In context it's talking about God's Ecclesia/the Faith and not apostatizing from God and the Truth. |

GDD asked a good question. The 5 fivefold is there..yet, because everyone operates in their gifts..there is no need to single one person. My spiritual Mom taught the lesson..yet, every participated..there were less hinderances. People are actually empowered not just to not be disciples; yet, to make disciples as well.

You know, saints... I wish I can describe how strongly the Spirit has this on me. I am a bit overwhelmed for I really don't know how/where to begin. I have never attended a HC which is why I was looking for one in my area. Sometimes a sadness comes over me because I know that I am not able to express myself to anyone. I ask God to guide me to those who understands and amazingly those people are all of my online family So, anything you guys can share, offer etc. will be greatly appreciated. |

I, for one, even as a "home churcher", don't want to paint all of them as some sort of panacea or ideal. Because over the years, I have seen some "home churches" that were just as, if not more, balled up than any institutional church. And I think right motivation and intention has a lot to do with the results. |
