What in the ham sandwich does supporting the radical gay agenda have to do with kicking gay folks out of church? You can't just up and change the subject here all willy nilly!

... yet another willy-nilly Christian boycott that is merely straining out gnats and swatting flies! You can't just up and change the subject here all willy nilly! LOL@ bro kb! I see you like that word too, lol! At this point, I see three things happening on this thread: 1. A good discussion of how we as Christians are to rightly and effectively respond to businesses, institutions, and systems which openly support and operate in the sins of the world in which we yet live. For me, in this case, Mc Donald's and homosexuality are certainly the topic but not the issue. It would be all the same to me if we were talking about any other corporation and any other sin. Now, I see and thank GOD that, at least, we seem to all be in agreement that homosexuality is sin. And, as Christians, we have now been informed that a mega popular corporation, that many of us regularly patronize, has chosen to fund initiatives which support that lifestyle. So for me, the bigger question, and the one I'm still asking on this thread remains: "What is the right response of Christians, not only to a/this particular corporation, but to any and all of those businesses, institutions and systems who make decisions which so clearly oppose both the Word and word of our GOD"?I think we actually were headed in that direction on this thread and I, for one, really hope we can regain that FOCUS. 2. Heartfelt and passionate concern for how Christians are to rightly respond to those who are yet living in the sin of homosexuality.I do agree with those who see this as a separate issue from the specific topic of this thread, but I also do understand why it is being raised here. For me, it's not quite like discussing "apples and oranges", because I happen to see the two aspects as, at least somewhat to very, related to each other. So I actually see it as more like discussing two different varities of "apples". Like some others here, I, too have some very deep concern and some strong opinions about how we, as Christians, both see the sin of homosexuality, as well as how we are responding to the so-called "gay agenda". I absolutely think discussing that is definitely worthwhile. And, just so everyone knows we do have a thread for discussing exactly that HERE. Imho, there have been a lot of good posts being made on this thread that would actually be far less distracting and more fruitful on that one. So please, do feel free to also just "copy and paste". 3. Some plain old, straight up offensive and defensive comments. In light of some recent events and results on this board, we definitely should have learned where that negative approach and response to each other will end us up. So, please let's agree to just stop all of that....NOW.

In all honesty and sincerety I truly wanted to discuss McDonald's (specifically) supporting the gay agenda with McDonald's being such a family oriented fast food franchise. The thread quickly was hijacked and went on a tangent.
That was my purpose and I really would like to continue that discussion.
Thanks!

I appreciate you making that plain. I have absolutely no problem with your particular perspective and I don't think it conflicts at all with mine. At this time, I'm just also focused on the larger issue of across the board consistency in our Christian response to these types of conflicts with the world in which we yet live. No doubt....but I think, with FOCUS, we can get it back. Amen and I really hope you can and will carry on with doing that. Anytime, sis! ONWARD!!!

yeahhhhh with some ranch dressing ROFLOL @ my fellow French fry fiends! ;D And, honestly, my desire to keep eating them is a major reason why this got my attention and gives me hope that all is not lost yet: AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION'S REACTION TO MCDONALD'S DECISION
"Wildmon says that, since three-fourths of McDonald's restaurants are owned by franchisees, if local customers contact the restaurant owners, those owners could be persuaded to call the corporate headquarters and discourage involvement with homosexual activist organizations like the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. "That person locally probably, may be sympathetic with us," Wildmon concludes. "And, if enough of those local managers get the word and they call McDonald's national, then there's a possibility McDonald's will change their stance in all of this." The AFA founder notes that two years ago, Wal-Mart joined the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. But after AFA representatives discussed the matter with Wal-Mart officials, the company allowed their position on the Chamber's board to expire -- and according to Wildmon, Wal-Mart is no longer a member of the NGLCC."
Read the entire article by clicking on the link above but those three paragraphs, mainly the last, is very important. I will begin calling and writing my local McDonald's! [/b] [/quote] Sis ASWSOY, I was so impressed with that testimony of impact from the American Family Association that I went to their site and they totally convinced me with their "Come, let us reason together." approach to this issue. I really apreciated the "Christians with good sense" sound of this: The American Family Association wants to talk with McDonald's, but the company is not returning Wildmon's calls. In the meantime, he says the group is not calling for a boycott. But he is encouraging McDonald's' customers to take action. "If a person really wants to make an impact," Wildmon encourages, "call your local McDonald's and say, 'As long as you are members of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, I'm going to have to seriously consider whether or not I'm going to continue to come to your restaurant and bring my family to your restaurant.'"Simple...Practical...Strategic...with major potential impact. Good opening move. ... McDonald's (specifically) supporting the gay agenda with McDonald's being such a family oriented fast food franchise. That is quite the "combo" isn't it? And given McDonald's unrivaled marketing/advertising savvy, I can just imagine the resulting television commercials and print ads......and $$$$$$$$

I have personally shared that i am learning to love like Jesus loves. I do not believe in condemnation since i am still hanging by grace myself. My stand is that in reaching out in love we must resist having our civil liberties and godly foundations in society eroded. My desire is for Jesus Christ to so flow out of me that everyone i meet will have a radical encounter with Him and on that level i am learning how to labour in love with people struggling with whatever issue they have-that involves not overwhelming them, shutting my mouth and just let the Holy Spirit love through me and convict them Himself and lead them on the path of righteousness (after all only He can do that). However where i draw a line is when demons begin to provoke individuals to move out of what is their own private sin and now want to take over government, communities, schools etc in order to prolesytize, justify and rebel against God's open commandments of what exalts a nation in His eyes. I am aware that for many people they do not realise that it is the enemy that is motivating them they believe it is tolerance and respect for all. Unfortunately God's words places limitations on us whether or not we are saved. He created the world and all of creation is under the Lordship of Christ Jesus whether we want to be or not. This is where i draw the line and say i love you but my love does not mean sitting back and opening the door for the enemy in my generation. I have people i am ministering to by the grace of God who are currently fighting drug addiction i love them and i am standing with them but my love for them will not let me agree with them if they start talking about the fact that cannabis should be downgraded. May i also be so bold to say that what opens the doorway for homosexuality in people's lives is relational brokeness. The focus when ministering to gay people is not so much preventing or overcoming the thoughts and feelings but in allowing God to heal the identity of the struggler. Now due to the fact that this is the issue with most homosexuals if not all (no matter how together they are on the outside this is the base line). That to me tells me and i say that because we are believers on here that they are not the people we should listen to in regards on how society should be run since their views on why their lifestyle should be accepted, taught and tolerated is not stemming from a wholesome healed soul

I also wanted to say that in discussing this post the aim is not to tell people what to do but to at least provoke us to recognise the fact that God might and does ask us to stand up and respond to social issues. It might be different for each of us and for some of us the issues He will ask us to be involved in is not what He might require of the next person since the needs of every society differs.
But it is the mindset that we as believers are to be an integral part of society and to carry Jesus' heart of intercession and righteousness for our nations.

Keita,
It is quite the combo. Mcdonalds does "pride" itself on being a family oriented restaurant.

Yes, sis Jas, they certainly do. And I do believe that particular "pride", coupled with the HUGE financial opportunity, and without any significant (and profit impacting) opposition, is exactly how McDonald's can and will very soon begin to encompass and target "different" types of "families". All in the name of "inclu$ion". In this case, they'll be "including" those "families" with "my two mommies" or "my two daddies", who will also undoubtedly be very heart-touchingly exemplified in a campaign of McDonald's incomparable trademark warm and fuzzy advertisements. And because McDonald's is who and what they are in terms of global corporate success, they also make a perfect test case for others to observe in this. So I do believe if Mc Donald's is indeed successful with this initiative, many others will definitely, immediately, and boldly follow $uit. For me, and despite my addiction to their french fries , that's more than enough reason to, at this point and least, pick up a phone and/or a pen to express my concern and position, as a Christian. And I fully encourage others to do the same.
