Greetings,
In my bible study time this morning the word LOVE jumped out at me..........LOL
However as I continued to read and study it was revealed to me that through all that revelation that was going on in the OT that God didn't tell anyone in the Old Testament scripture that he loved them....yet he commanded that we (people) love him with all of our hearts......
How is love displayed in scriptures?

Love is a action word. While you might not find may OT passages that comes out and says from God "I love you", what you will see is his love in action, even from the garden with adam and eve... It was love that put them out of the garden, It was love that gave clothing and a chance at redemption... IT was love that made abraham a promise, and it was love that kept Joseph from dying in the pit. It was love that forgave david, It was love that gave moses the hope to tell paroah to let his people Go, and it was love that was a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day... Love sent the commandments, etc etc.. While the words.. " I love you might not be recorded in that much in the O.T. Its CLEARLY put in action.

Thanks Bro Beck that's exactly what I was getting too...that LOVE is an action word and all these catch sayings and church greetings mean absolutely nothing without the action behind it.... And Love sometimes hurt.....it doesn't hurt intentionally it's just because sometimes we can't see the Glory (goodness) behind those actions of true love... Yes it hurt for Adam and Eve to get put out of the garden but look at the redemption and reconciliation of that same Love that has given us all another chance.... We very seldom have to hear God saying or telling us He loves us because his love is shown to us everyday...... So my question is why is it in the church setting Love has become lip service and has stop becoming actions?

We very seldom have to hear God saying or telling us He loves us because his love is shown to us everyday...... So my question is why is it in the church setting Love has become lip service and has stop becoming actions? It's because most church people are subject to a different type of love. Like the commissioned song.."Love isn't love until its given away". Luke 6 deals with being an example for Christ Jesus asked the question... if we love those who love us, what thanks do we really have? even sinners do the same... the point that Christ was making shows later when he says to love and don't expect it back and our reward will be great, and you will be sons of the most highest, for even God is kind to the unthankful and the wicked. the moral of the story is that as God is kind to the unthankful, so should we mirror his act of Love towards them and not allow it to be lip service or just words... Then he goes on in Luke 10 and answers the Lawyer that asked him how does he gain eternal life : you have the religious folks that really isn't interested in showing Love and concern, they just passed by...but thank God for the "Samaritan" the term means the one who keeps God's law! He was the one who took the time to show love for his neighbor the way God would desire for us to show... It is the one who is obedient to the scripture that says...For God so loved the world that he gave... and they take it and become givers themselves, caring for the souls of the people. helping the helpless, loving the loveless and imputing hope to the hopeless. This is what the bibles says about not just being hearers of the word..but doers as well. Jesus in Luke 6 says "Unto them that Hear"... he wasnt just talking about hearing..but he was also talking about those who are willing to hear and put what they have heard into action....
