I'm sure you guys are familiar with this song. Is that a biblical concept, going "back to Eden"?

Is there some place we can hear the song? Is that a biblical concept, going "back to Eden"? I would say, in a sense, yes, but not here, not now, and not yet. Because I do believe the ultimate purpose of redemption is (always) restoration.

Keita, you can hear the song here:
In my view, Eden was never meant to be where man would dwell eternally, so there's no Eden to get back to (hence God kicking them out and placing cherubim to guard the entrance). Jesus was the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world and is God's Plan A.

I was thinkin that "going back to eden" meant going back to a state of peace, where there was sweet communion with the father, no shame, no lack, no sickness, etc.and the list goes on
We know that in the garden (before the fall) things were "pleasant" so to speak, all things were provided for, there was no hardship, no pain and suffering, no doubt, and this list goes on. It's sort of a time when things were considered "innocent, or pure" (age of innocence-no manifestation of sin being present)
They (Adam and Eve) were given specific instructions from God, and they weren't burdensome, and from that they could go and live in harmony with nature, each other, and be in peace, and have free course to live and enjoy the things God had provided. But sin has disrupted, warped, damaged, robbed, etc. So in us going back to Eden, living on top of the world, we can rise above being enslaved by sin and being distracted in this life and enjoy (abundant) life with the Lord, sort of like the way it used to be.
Just a small thought......

Keita, you can hear the song here: THANKS. EXACTLY! ;D Redemption and Restoration, not of the literal garden of Eden, but of all who were, and of all which was, lost there. That's Christ and His Kingdom to me. I think whoever wrote those song lyrics probably sees and was actually trying to "make the connection" for others. But the hook needs work.

I understand what you're saying auneeqsol, but that's not "back to Eden." Eden was also a state of immaturity. Where God wants to take us is not back to Eden, but to full, mature stature in Christ. It's akin to all of this glorification of aspects of the old covenant we've seen going on lately, which shows that we really don't have a clue of what we have on this side of Calvary in the new covenant which is infinitely better than the old. Eden was not where God wanted us to remain; otherwise, we would have remained there. And from reading the scriptures, it's clear that's not where we will wind up. It is God's ultimate purpose to bring us to full maturity in Christ. "For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in [Christ], and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross" (Col. 1:19-20).

Yep KB you're right
But you know how we do, we try to piece concepts together the best we can, and with that thought in mind, I can see where they were going with the song. But technically speaking, from a theological standpoint...lol you're right that's not where we are headed. But to some since they dont realize what we have on this side of redemption, Eden is the only place they can draw an idea from and/or that's the only place (peaceful state of Eden) they can picture to be able to grasp the message. I agree with you wholeheartedly, and besides, most of the church world is still in a state of immaturity, so some of us really dont know how to take advantage of what the new covenant/redemption has to offer. All some know is that in the beginning Eden is the place where things were in order before sin entered the hearts of man.

Auneeqsol, I'm glad you see where I'm coming from. It really speaks to the lack of solid teaching in our churches today more than anything. We've gotta get weaned off this milk and get on some meat!!!
