[glow=red,2,300]Keeping God's Secrets [/glow]
One sure way to derail a prophecy or testimony is to speak of it before it is time. Too often I have seen the Lord working a great testimony in someone's life and before it is completed the one that is to be blessed testifies of what God is about to do. Then everything comes undone and the promise is broken. The same thing happens when a prophecy is delivered before it is time. God shares what He is about to do in secret and we have no right to speak it until He tells us to. Many times God shares things with His prophets that are never to be spoken. Like a wife speaking publicly regarding an intimate experiences between her and her husband that should have remained private. The husband is less likely to be as intimate in the future; the same goes for our Heavenly Father. _____________________________________________ _____________________________________________
[glow=red,2,300]Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secrets to His servants the prophets.
Amos 3:7 [/glow]

Do we have any examples of this in scripture?

I was going to ask the same question. I believe that with all things that God gives to us in "secret" or private, there will be a time to speak.
Common sense should say: what my husband and I do, is between us and GOD and not to be disclosed to the world. -Why would that qualify as a God given secret?

Does God really break a promise because one chooses to testify of the goodness they see about to manifest in their lives?

I dont know about God breaking the promise, I dont believe that is what AT wanted to convey. I believe what she is speaking of is when people testify about a thing before it has come to completetion OR instead of keeping it silent in one's own heart they reveal a thing too soon or open the door for opposition to derail things. think of it like taking a cake out of the oven before it is done.
We must realize that much prophecy is conditional. We have to meet the conditions to inherit the promise.

^That I can understand, like the Lord saying if you do A, B, and C, I'll do X, Y, and Z.
Maybe the gist of the first post has to do with a dream or vision God has given you personally for your future. Sometimes by speaking it, you attract discouragement, envy, and even anger--like Joseph making mention of his dream to his family. On the flip side, you have Mary, who pondered what she heard in her heart and didn't go spreading it to any and everybody. In those situations, I don't think it's really God breaking a promise, but us getting into a position of discouragement, doubt, and possibly even unbelief, which can delay or derail what God has communicated to us.

I've forgot to put the author.... This came to my e-mail from It Is Written Ministries, I posted it, because I thought it is a good topic to discuss....
I agree with Giant, Sharing premature testimonies will bring opposition and discouragement when the Word don't come to pass in the season that you thought it should come. When God says "soon" it may mean 10 years from now... The person may not understand God's timing.
Giving an off timing Word... May cause one to jump into something, like ministry, mission or job in the wrong season, and causes shipwreck.... Example.... God may tell a leader about the call on one of his member, but did not instructed him to tell the person yet.... God may have the leader to pray and begin to prepare the individual for the calling before announcing it. The person may not be mature enough to handle it at that particular time.
Jesus knew what each of His disciple were called to do, but He did not tell them right away, He begin to mentor them and prepare them for the great commission.
Can God trust you with His Word.... Can He impregnant with a vision during your time of intimacy with Him, Can you hold it till it is time for delivery? Or will you bring forth a premature sick baby, because you had to tell somebody, so they know that God speak you (pride)? Or will you have a spiritual Miscarriage or abortion.
Will You Keep God's Secret, till he instructed you, When, Where, How And Who to give it.
