There won't be any of my usual political chiding of politicians, although God knows New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer deserves it, with his Client No. 9, Room 871, FBI wiretapped a$$ (I hope it was some good sex to be worth what he's going through now, not to mention the estimated $80,000 for his addiction to high-priced booty). Spitzer has officially stepped down and said sorry.
For those of you who like seeing black people move to the head of the line (former vice-presidential candidate Geraldine Ferarro is not on that list), there's good news. Spitzer's resignation means Lt. Governor David Paterson will now take over the state's top post.
Paterson, 53, is a Harlem-Democrat who is legally blind and a fascinating man.
He is known for his ability to work with both Democrats and Republicans and is the son of former New York Secretary of State Basil Paterson, who was the first black New York City deputy mayor and ran for the Lt. Gov. spot in 1970.
Check out this bio on Paterson. He offers a pretty good track record, politically and socially, and I could see him picking right up where Spitzer would leave off. In fact, take a look at this video below. This dude is kinda shoot-from-the-hip, but charismatic at the same time.
So if you are scared to have a black president, why don't you come to New York and take David Paterson for a test drive. His middle name isn't Hussein, so there's nothing for you to be nervous about. In fact, methinks that we could be entering a new era of black leadership that garners both black and white votes.
"Aww d**n, Lerlene, them colored boys done took over. We'd better head for the outhouse."
