The Bible says that we've all sinned and come short of the glory of God. When we mess up, however, there are two feelings that we can experience. The first is conviction and the second is condemnation. Let me explain the difference between the two.
Conviction is from the Lord. It is the little voice inside of your head that will say things like, "Maybe I shouldn't have said that." or "I should probably apologize for doing what I did." Conviction is God speaking to your heart and opening your eyes to things that you have done wrong. It helps you to realize your sins, repent, and then move on!
Condemnation, on the other hand, is from the enemy. It is the voice inside your head that says things like, "God will never be able to use me again after what I've done." or "I can never be forgiven for the horrible sins I've committed." Condemnation is the devil trying to discourage you and tear you down. This is not of God!
Romans 8:1 says: There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus.
If you've made a mistake in your life, no matter how big or small, once you have confessed your sins and repented, it's time to move on! Don't let the enemy keep you living a life of guilt! Be free in Jesus and remember, that it's under the blood. God himself can remember your sins no more!
