Getting plenty of rest is essential in trying to loose weight. Ive learned that When you don't get the proper amount of rest that there is a chemical released in the body which makes it harder for someone to loose weight...........So make sure you get plenty of rest along with you diet and exercise.......
Be Blessed

Losing weight fast is never a good thing. You end up gaining it back and then some. It is best to lose weight consistently, over time, about 2 - 3 lbs per week.
Also, don't think of it as dieting. You have to make a lifestyle change. Change your eating habits, start exercising - to lose weight you need to exercise at least 5 times per week for 30 -45 minutes.
Instead of eating three big meals, eat 3 small meals with a snack between each meal time and at bed time (if needed); this keeps your matabolism going.

I sit at a desk for 5 hrs, and the only thing I did was drink coffee. I didn't go out for lunch, I rarely started off the day with breakfast. I had said I was going to do better, and did so at times, but I slacke off. I found that when I didn't eat during the day...I'd consume everything when I got home.
You know I had to adjust my eating habits right? Which inturn became a lifestyle change. LoL
I cook all the time now, I eat more vegetables, and I stay away from fast food, well (except mcdonald's fries)
I just really started following through with eating something in the morning, and I eat a salad everyday for lunch. I jazz it up so that it doesn't get boring..but I love salads so, its always good to me.
I make sure that I eat apples. and I drink water everyday now. I also have my crystal light on the go packets, which are really good. My Favs are Fruit Punch, Peach tea, Rasberry Lemonade, and the LivAlive Rasberry Peach..OOoOo So good!
I don't drink pop (soda).
And every night I drink tea. I don't know why. Its soothing, and helps me relax, and find it better than snacking on something late at night.
I also got back on the band wagon (Gym). Its hard. I hadn't been to the gym for about 7mths so thats been tought, because I had to start the conditioning all over again.
One of the Sisters at church told me on Sunday that I looked like I had lost some weight. I covered my ears and said I don't want to hear it. thanks but I don't want to hear it, because I know me. I'll say great, and hop off the wagon.
Not this time.

Yes, staying away from sodas (including diet) are a biggie! If you choose to drink a diet soda, it should only be 1 per day.
Fruits and veggies are always a good thing and that is what I often eat during my snack times.
Also watch your starch intake! Learn to read food labels. 15grams of total carbohydrates = 1 starch serving. Also, watch the saturated fat on the label - even small numbers can be harmful.
No fried foods!
And Jasmine, stay away from the Mickie Dee's Fries. I was doing well with my eating for today and you had to go and mention McDonald's Fries. Now I am craving the ENTIRE meal - Fries, Big Mac and a Choc. Shake!

The key is think of it as a lifestyle change and not a diet! That is first and foremost.

Now I am craving the ENTIRE meal - Fries, Big Mac and a Choc. Shake! A few years ago I did weight watchers, and I really learned how to read the general nutrition labels. I don't stay away from fried foods, because Im not on a diet...LoL But for some people staying away from fried foods might be what greatly assist in their losing weight. It will definitely lower your cholesterol. I normally bake alot of my food, but I ain't letting go of the fried chicken..LOL What I have learned is that I don't need to cook my greens in neckbones, ham hocks, or ham ends to have that taste I grew up with. Now, ASWSOY you know after I posted those fries, I had to run out and grab me some for lunch...but I only got a small and I got a side salad to go with them. Also Jess, I agree with ASWSOY..its a lifestyle change not a diet, because Diets fail. they don't work. And there really is no easy way to lose weight. It takes discipline. And thats what its really about learning how to discipline yourself and eating what works for YOUR body. So foods that we love do and cause more damage, and when we learn how to identify what those foods are then..you'll see some results.

The Lap Banding and the Gastric Bypass IMO are not a safe route to go... Ive worked with patients that has had both procedures and many of the have terible complications and usually end up back in the hospital for them.....

Jessica,
Do you know off hand what are some of the most likely complications to occur? I have a friend who is considering Lap band procedure, but I am seriously trying to talk her out of it. We do have one friend who had the gastric bypass, and she looks great..but at what expense?? She faced some major complications as well.
What do patients most complain about after having such procedures?

What do patients most complain about after having such procedures? Well one of the main complications that happens with the lab banding is that it can slip and cause a obstruction and they often have to go back to surgery for that.... and with the gastric bypass alote of people have alote of stomach problems but they are usually the people that dont do what they are suppose to do...
