I think another good idea for you ladies that wear makeup is to wear water proof mascara. I don't wear it all the time but its good to have some to wear to church cause you never know whats gonna happen and the Spirit of God get a hold of you and you end up lookin like a racoon before The Spirit gets through with you. if you all know what I mean. Many Blessings Jessica Well, there are some who feel that you shouldn't wear makeup at all ---however, that is another thread!

But even in moderation, there are several people who believe that the bible speaks against women in makeup - so again, it all depends on the church that you are in.

I don't believe the bible speak about women wearing makeup. And the scripture that many use are taken out of context:
1 Peter 3:3-5 Peter 3:3, 5 – “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel...For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:”
As you see, this speaks nothing of wearing makeup but it is the one I hear used most often as to why women should not wear makeup (as well as not braid their hair.
I have also heard it say that a woman who wears makeup is like Jezebel and therefore carry the spirit and characteristics of her. Again, this is not supported by scripture.

Yes I have heard that too, a women who wears makeup is as a Jezebell. Jezebel was evil though because of her heart not her appearance.......I grew up in a church that we wasn't allowed to wear makeup, earrings, or even cut my hair. I always had long hair past my behind always untill I went to beauty school and rebeled LOL. Anywho even though that church didnt wear makeup and alote of the people that went to that church was jugemental and even wicked.

Anywho even though that church didnt wear makeup and alote of the people that went to that church was jugemental and even wicked. Many churches set those standards (dont' wear pants, don't use makeup, don't cut your hair) etc. because it is "the way its always been" and again because they take the scripture out of context and therefore place a yoke upon the people that they themselves are not even able to bare. My old church was this way and I never understood why the "rules" were as such because it had NOTHING to do with my relationship with the Lord. However (and this is important), I honored what they said because it was my choice to continue to attend that church. It would have been wrong for me to choose to attend and be in rebellion. Though I knew the truth of the Word of God, it would have been wrong (and unloving) of me to "demand my freedom". Once I left that particular church, I no longer had to abide by its rules. If I was to ever visit that church - I would still visit according to the rules they have in place (as long as it is not a sin).

Do it because it is what you (and the Lord) like. We do not live our life for others.
