Make sure to pick up Dorinda Clark Cole's new album entitled "Take it Back" in stores on April 15th. I've already listened to samplings of tracks on amazon.com (and it's going to be a good album). Check out the single "Take it Back" below if you hadn't heard it before. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xfafeyEtig

I am more of a Contemporary Christian person, than anything. She has many contemporary jams on there. As a matter of fact, this latest project seemed to be more contemporary than her other projects (I can think of only 3 on the latest album that are actually traditional church music). The rest are contemporary.

What I mean by contemporary christian would be artists such as:
jars of clay steven curtis chapman third day ffh casting crowns
i also enjoy the praise and worship sounds of;
martha munizzi isarael lakewood
i really don't listen to "gospel" much anymore though at times i enjoy the sound of fred hammond. oh yeah, i picked up the new kirk franklin cd.

lol...@dorinda contemporary...
barlow girls are cool. I tend to stick with what sounds good regardless of its "christian genre title" but I can say hands down...the only contemporary cd's I own..are Michael W. Smith/ Darlene Z???
the rest are gospel. Including Martha and Isreal
Also Kirk franklin CD is awesome..

Martha and Israel isn't really in the "Gospel Genre" but I hear what you are saying. For some reason I cannot get into the gospel flava anymore.

I haven't been able to grasp the "Christian Rap" yet, however I haven't totally dismissed it either. I think the thing I like most about Christian Rap is the fact that our youth are able to express, praise and worship the Lord in their way and from the heart. I am always down with that.

You know..most "popular" christian rappers, are pushing 30 or definitely OVER..so can they really be considered youth, because If so.. I better be considered one too..LoL
But I was all for rap when I stayed in the secular music realm..I couldn't get enough of tupac, common, biggie, roots, digital planet, lauryn hill, fugees. etc.etc.etc..
So of course I am all into rap, and besides...my husband is an anointed Christian rapper..along with other musical gifts God has blessed Him, us and our children with.

Amen.
I listened to SOME rap prior to salvation but eventually listened to even less than I did in the beginning. You have a point with the age of some of the Christain Rappers! LOL. I guess my mind was going to the group at my church which I beleive are not even 18 years old (there are 3 of them). Their lyrics are deep!
I also think it is awesome that you have a family of minstrels!
