Say What? Hillary Clinton Does it Again By The Editorial Board We have no idea what, exactly, Hillary Clinton was thinking when she referred to the assassination of Bobby Kennedy in explaining her decision to keep on campaigning when it looks like there is virtually no hope of her winning the Democratic nomination. (We’ve supported her decision to do so. This is a democracy, after all.)
But she could, at least, have apologized. Instead, she issued one of those tedious non-apology apologies in which it sounds like the person who is being offended is somehow at fault: “I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation, and particularly for the Kennedy family was in any way offensive.”
If?
Is it even possible that Mrs. Clinton thinks someone out there was not offended by her remark, Kennedy relative, Obama relative, or just plain folks?
Mrs. Clinton tried to excuse her inexcusable outburst by saying she was distracted by the shock of the news of Senator Edward Kennedy’s malignant brain tumor. But there was something familiar about what she said, and thanks to Ben Smith of Politico, we remembered what it was. Mrs. Clinton said basically the same thing in an interview with Time on March 6:
“I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A.” What’s next? “Mistakes were made”?============================================== What do you think? Is she comparing Robert Kennedy to Obama? Is she hoping that Obama be assassinated like RFK? Did she go to the witch doctor to send a curse to him?

I don't believe one bit that she was saying that she was hoping that Obama be assassinated. I feel it is a prime example of taking what one said out of context and running with it.

What is she saying? Why even bring up Robert Kennedy's 1968 assassination, knowing that Edward Kennedy shocking news of brain tumor. is she saying I am staying in the race, just in case the same thing that happen to Bob Kennedy, happen to Obama, and she will be handed over the nomination, like President Johnson?.... I know she made the same statement back in March... It was bad than and even worst now...

This response is so funny ;D)
93.May 23rd, 2008 8:03 pm Isn’t this is so very thoughtful of Hillary and just like her? Hillary figures she should be a stand-in, an under study JUST in case some horror should befell Obama. For example, what if Obama should fall out of a window of a hi-rise? Or, he starts his car one morning and it explodes. Or he were to accidently cut his throat while shaving. Or perhaps he was to eat some ricen laced food in China town. Or he should step in front of a speeding bus without looking. Or accidently walk out onto a shooting range. Or get into the bad habit of playing with loaded guns at a national monument, you know! The way Vince Foster did. Then thoughtful and caring Hillary could be in there to accept the nomination in Obama’s absence. I mean wouldn’t you feel at ease just knowing Hillary was there for all of us. To pick up the torch and carry on Obama’s legacy, in his wake, where he left off? Isn’t it reassuring to know that someone like Hillary is among us. A woman with no ego. No ambition. Without a course bone in her body. A woman so selfless and unassuming. So heart broken herself. So willing to sacrifice her own safety to pick up the fallen mantle and carry on. So heroic, so gallant, so brave is she! Why Hillary is right up there with Our Blessed Mother, Joan of Arc and Mother Theresa. We don’t deserve you Hillary. I MEAN WE REALLY, REALLY, REALLY DO NOT DESERVE YOU!

You may be correct, but she left some out when she spoke about Robert Kennedy, which caused her word to be misunderstood. She didn't said, Robert Kennedy continue to run all the way into June, period... she said Robert Kennedy was assassinated in June. It make it sound like ... well Obama can be assassinated in June too.... instead of I can continue to run up into June, because it have been done before. PPl are asking her to apologize to the Obama's family also....

Well for the sake of clarity, I believe it would be a good idea to apologize but I thought she did already. I really don't know because I've only heard bits and pieces here and there. I heard the replay of her comment but I thought I heard that she also apologized but people feel it wasn't real - however, this is the part that I didn't see.

I think her lips spoke her subliminal mind and not her rational mind.
I think she is sorry her words came out like that. She is living on nerves right now and is tired.
I'm glad Obama's response was reserved. He is looking more presidential right now. Hillary thought she was entitled.

“I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation, and particularly for the Kennedy family was in any way offensive.”
This is her apology.....
By just saying the word assassination.... Some believe it is a code that is sent out to someone to assassinate Obama and McCain have to be careful.... She will do anything to win, and that's crazy....

Why Is Clinton Talking about Assassination ? Link: zfacts.com/May 23, 2008. Explaining why she stays in, Clinton said: "We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California." Spread the word Obama generously labeled it a slip, but there's a lot more to it. (1) The statement was cooked up in March and used three times before. (2) Its use doesn't make sense. (3) She refuses to acknowledge, let alone regret, the implications of her remark. Cooked up in March. On March 2, an ABC poll showed 59% of Americans worried about Obama's safety. On March 6, Clinton was reminding Time Magazine of Bobby's assassination. Fast work, and tricky. She can't just blurt out "Bobby was assassinated, and Obama might be too." So her team cooked up a way to slip in a reminder, and she has now used it at least four times. This time more brazenly, and she got caught. So she claimed she slipped because "The Kennedys have been much on my mind the last days because of Senator Kennedy [hospitalized last week]." That wasn't her reason the first three times she said it. Doesn't make sense. She claims her statement meant that races often last till June. But why bring up a 40-year-old assassination to make this point? She claims it's because "We all remember" when Bobby was assassinated. Did you remember it was in June? I sure didn't. She knows that almost no one remembers. Since we don't, the assassination doesn't remind us of June, so why claim falsely that "We all remember"? She does that to make it seem like the assassination is helping her establish the date— the only possible reason to mention it. Even stranger, why bring up that race at all? The example is flat wrong. That year the season didn't start until March, so Bobby's run was short, and only 13 states had primaries, so the race couldn't be settled until the convention. To top that, there were two true examples from more recent years. Gary Hart and Ted Kennedy fought until the convention. The only reason to reach back 40 years to the assassination for a false example is to bring up Obama's vulnerability. more >> The fake apology. "I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation, and particularly for the Kennedy family ..." So if it bothers us to remember Bobby's assassination, then she regrets her remark. But as she knows, that's not what bothers us. She ignores our real concern: the risk of another assassination—the one that would give her the nomination. Instead she used her "apology" only to advertise her connection to the Kennedys: "I'm honored to hold Senator [Bobby] Kennedy's seat in the United States Senate." That's how she ended her "apology"—reminding us Bobby got killed, and in the end, she got his seat. The country spent two days reminding her that raising the possibility of your opponent's assassination, even indirectly, to explain why you're still running, is offensive. Then she wrote an Op-Ed for the NY Daily News and again made no mention of anyone's concern about her opponent's assassination. So Why Talk of Assassination? Why take the risk of raising such an explosive issue four times, especially when her point could be far better made without it. If Obama were assassinated, she would win without staying in. So that's not it. At least three reasons make sense. She may be trying to: - Give her supporters hope—that Obama will be assassinated, or - Discourage super-delegates from voting for someone who might not last, or - Give crazy people ideas—people like Kennedy's assassin Sirhan Sirhan. Let's hope it's only the first two. They're bad enough. If the Democratic Party thinks it can lead this country, its leaders had better show they are tough enough to put an end such evil politicking.

Guys, I used to have such respect for her. I used to believe that one day she really would become the first female president...
But now I think she is very close to ending her political career for good with her antics...
Sometime timing is not on our side... Shehas become the Michelle Quan or Kwan of the presidental hopefuls

I used to like her too... I wasn't going to vote for Clinton, but I liked her... After the incident in the White House with President Clinton, my heart went out for her... Since the election, an dark side have begin to manifest, you can see it all in her eyes... She want to win no matter what it take... she scarying some ppl... This causing division in the Democratic (Hillarite and Obamite;D)... If obama made such comment, she will drag him through the mud.... But Obama bushed if off by saying he take her for what she said (as am explantion for the remark)... Those who work with him is not making a big deal out of it... they are moving on.... The supporters of Obama is speaking out and she is blaming Obama for the criticisms... She lost it ... She lost my respect...

Well, I have long since regreted that decision. The longer this thing goes on, the more respect I lose for her. At this point, I would not vote for her no matter what office she runs for. I have already decided that if she turns out to be the Democratic nominee (God forbid) rather than vote for her I just won't vote at all. Voting for a republican is not an option for me.

I am an independent so I didn't vote for anybody in the primary.... my vote would not have counted anyway, I am in Florida .... She have turn many away from her, by being so desperated to get back into the White House.... She also may lose her position in NY as a senator...
