There were problems BEFORE Bush got into office. I think that one of the saddest things about this country is that we have so much knowledge....yet when we give out information,we tend to only give one side. I am getting so sick and tired of hearing McCain bashing....just as sick as I am about hearing Obama bashing. The facts are that the president for the most part doesn't really make most decisions. And you can tell a lot by how many things we "parrot" based on other things that we say. Looking back at it and even looking at it now...it does make you wonder how much brainwashing is done....from both sides.... We spending 10 billion dollar a month fighting the wrong country... This is a big part of the problem....

Giants, Clearly i don't understand what is going on... Please break it down for us... I'm only making comments to what I see and able to discern from new reports and asking basic questions...
If what I posted is not what is really going down Giants... then don't just asking if I "Know" what is really happening??? Do your job as my trusted big brother and Christ and please school me and others on it... I am a willing student... We can all benefit from the knowledge of those who understand things better and have a know of that area....
I don't expect the average person to know a great deal about medicine... But I don't mind sharing what I know....
But seriously... I really want to know... If anything I posted about banks and people being foreclosed on is true...

Nina, You need not withdraw from this discussion... Nikkol is a big girl and a first lady of a ministry she can handle it when she is uhm ah WRONG... and her canadiate is bout to bite the dust!LOL
We have all been going at it for quite some time and I think the important part is for people to be able to back up their statements with facts and not just emotions... Nina I think you do a good job of that...
Nikkol... Nina is right... It is no secret that when Clinton left office he left with a large surplus... If there were problem when he was in office then you need to come and post what those problem are... Other wise it just looks like your being a die hard republican that doesn't want to admit that the republican truly appear to be the majority at fault for this major crisis that appears to be occuring...
And Nikkol... It's also no secret that the repeals some banking laws that would have prevented the situation that is occurring now... Also with wanting to make tax breaks for the most wealthy people in America permament... Now if that isn't shady then I don't know what is....

But I don't mind sharing what I know.... But seriously... I really want to know... If anything I posted about banks and people being foreclosed on is true... Kitty I think the reality of this mess that we are is that it was not created overnight and that it is not going tio be fixed overnight. The problem is this.. People see the stock market go up and down yet they dont realize what is happening. When you see stocks going up what you are seeing is people buying stocks in companies which in turn increases their value. Stocks are one of the better investments you can be involved in. On average they pay out a better dividend over time than any other investment. However the stock market is also risky. unlike something like a T-Bill which has a guaranteed return but a much lower interest rate stocks have greater returns but also much greater risk. The massive sell off of stock is related to several things First off the Baby Boomers are still affecting soceity as they continue to age.. The olders ones like my Dad are mostly already retired... a great many of them have their money in stocks. Many of them are moving their money from stocks to Tbills and even Gold ( Gold had the single biggest jump EVER in one day a few weeks back ) This causes a massive sell off which causes the Dow to go down.. then panic ensues.. many people start selling ASAP... However the markets are also intertwined.. Overseas investors in Asia and Europe start selling off US stocks.. US investors get out of the Asian and Euro markets.. now even overseas stocks are going down... The Bail Out in no way shape or form was going to stop that from happening.. what I expect that it will do is to start getting the credit markets flowing again eventually.. Businesses dont work on cash... they work on credit... For example even the business I am in works on credit.. I work for a retailer as a buyer.. I make purchases and set pricing structure and margin as well as make sales... EVERYTHING we buy is on Credit... sometimes 30 days credit.. sometimes as much as 180-280 days credit... Imagine if all of a sudden those vendors stop giving me credit to buy merchandise. That means I would have to pay cash out of pocket. That affects the cash flow tremendously.. now my ability to do business is severly constrained by the amount of actual CASH I have on hand.. Now transpose that onto a bank...which runs almost entirely one credit flowing back and forth... Lets say you come into Giants DO Die Bank to secure a loan for a new business office downtown u are planning.. well as the bank in good times I would have no problem giving you a loan because Iam going to charge you a percentage to get a greater return and if its a GOOD investment the bank might even partner up give a lower rate for a share of the propfits from the rental of office space... But now real estate is down.. people arent moving to new shiny offices.. I dont want to invest this much money as the lender... Your project cant get financing.. its put on hold... All those contractors are on hold.. all those construction workers are on hold.. etc etc etc.... and thats just a small example of how all these things are intertwined... This " Bail out " has some tax breaks for small businesses.. hopefully it will help homeowners as well ( that was one of the sticking points ).. Unfortunately it creates debt.. but even debt can be managed... I believe again they have already decided who they will bail out and who they wont.... has anyone noticed the price of oil steadily dropping... you think thats a coincidence... think again LOL !!!!

Thank you Kitty... Not that many years ago, my dad would never have believed that this statement: could ever apply to me LOL Praise God for the work He has done and is still doing... I understand that it is near to impossible, especially this time around, to "stay cool" because so many things are happening at the same time, every day, and really hitting "home". It's hard to detach. So, how can we deal on a daily basis with everything coming at us, as citizens of this country and as believers? I think that what this article speaks about is helpful, it redirects the issue towards a topic that I, personally, did not relate in that way to politics in general: the power of speech... " Don't Vote For Him!Duck, here comes some mud... By Y. Rice .../... “It has been said that negative campaigning is "as American as Mississippi mud." So, why does it bother me so much? Through their words, leaders create a reality. They reveal a new potential within the individual and within society. Through their dialogue and directives policy is formed, laws are legislated and a new course emerges. Many of today’s leaders seem to have turned the divine gift of leadership-through-speech on its head. Instead of using the power of the word to reveal potentials and emphasize strengths, words are used, instead, to expose flaws and emphasize weaknesses. Instead of inspiring our imagination, they dampen our spirits. So, what can we do now? I do not have a solution for elevating the campaigns or changing the tides of our even polarizing country. But my words can have a profound impact on one individual: Me. He remains the one over whom I have full control. As a friend of mine once illustrated, when you point one finger at someone else, you are pointing three fingers back at yourself! Words create a reality. If I remember that my words create a reality in the people around me, I will take them much more seriously. These words carry a heavy responsibility. I can make someone's day, or take someone's day. In this election season, when we are called upon to be discerning to choose the right person, we could equally take the lesson to choose our words carefully to create a better world.”

Let me take it one point at a time.... 1) I don't go by the title 1st Lady....LOL. 2) It is possible that McCain may not win....which would make sense because each few years there is a shift in "power"....like the ground. How on the 7th year (I believe) they were to give the ground rest. 3) I have learned (like I have said previously) that although the president in many ways is like a pastor of a church. When things are going good in the minsitry, the pastor gets the credit...at the same time, when things are going bad in the ministry, the pastor gets that credit as well. Nothing that I have studied in school (Poli Sci major) has ever indicated that the presdient really makes the decisions. This is why although many want to blame Bush, I don't. Just like I don't perse "praise Clinton" for what he did. I'm pretty neutral. 4) Regarding tax laws, I see both sides. I can understand why ppl that have worked and are making a lot of money don't want to be penalized more because they are making more money. At the same time, I also understand how ppl that don't make a lot of money would think that those that make more money should have to pay more in taxes. (It would be interesting to see if someone that isn't making a lot of money now and got into a different tax bracket would still feel like those who make more money should be penalized more). I personally believe that ppl should just have to give a percentage and that percentage should be the SAME for everyone. 5) I think that what we should also understand is there's a different way that parties allocate money (see #2).

The working class are right now in the tax bracket.... the wealthy have been given tax cut and are paying less percentage of tax on their gross income than the middle and lower class.... An increase in tax will not cause them to suffer like the working class who living from pay check to pay check.... they need a break... Part of the problem is ppl who have lose their homes throught natural disaster. Many ppl lose not only their home, but also their businesses and jobs. Many are not able to pay off their mortgage and loans. Pres. Bush is part of the blame.....

AT: Yet there are others who pay no taxes all year and still get a very nice size refund check...... this is why, like I said, I understand BOTH sides.
Additionally, some ppl are losing their home and KNEW before they signed the ppwk that they wouldn't be able to afford it.... I even know of someone who was going to get a "no income" loan so they could get a house. I KNEW that what they said they were making they weren't. And even if they got the downpayment, they wouldn't be able to afford the monthly payments.... like I said, I can't blame one person more than another.... Pointing the blame won't help either.

And even if they got the downpayment, they wouldn't be able to afford the monthly payments.... like I said, I can't blame one person more than another.... Pointing the blame won't help either. The fianancial instituions make the decision to qualify a person for a loan or not... They know ppl are desperate to own their own home.... it is an American dream. I get all kinds of offers in my mail box... you know the 1% loan pay $365 a month per $100,000.00, but they do really explain how it work.... They don't tell you that it will change later. The person will say... hey I am paying much more than that, renting... PPL go to see if they are qualified... They have what coming in and out, lay out before the financial planner... They know these can afford the loan, but qualify them anyway. They want them to loose their home ... and re-sale it.... but it finally back fired. PPl who lose their homes through natural disaster are not paying for a house that nolonger exist.... Businesses were destroyed, jobs was lose.... do know what it cost to re-build... and provide shelter, food and clothing for all the displaced ppl... Nobody is considering this.... The insurance company don't move fast enough and some don't have good ins. or Ins... and the money is used for surviving and not for paying off mortgages and loans. Yes... Pres. Bush is PART of the blames Not completely the blame... 10 Billion dollar a month for fighting the wrong country... and his economic policy not working.... Deregularated banks and other financial institutions along with Wall Street.... Tax cut for the Oil Companies, and the wealthy.... he turned a surplu into tillion dollars in debt.... Yes... He have to take some responsibilties. I have been praying that from after the election to his departure that God will turn things around so he can leave with a good report and not in shame... I like him and have voted for him.... I just feel bad about some of the decision he have made, have caught up with him.

When I went to purchase my first home, I was told. And as a loan officer, I also told ppl about the different plans by which to pay. The decision to be able to purchase is based on you LTV (loan to value) along with your DTI (debt to income). Based on that information, those that are able to fall into the percentage (DTI I believe is 80% which would include the mortgage) would be able to purchase a house because all in all, one should be able to pay their bills based on that criteria. When I was in the "loan officer" business. Having a house put back on the market and having to forclose hurts banks because on many occassions the "foreclosuer amount" recieved is less. Granted, a higher interest rate is given to some ppl based on their criteria (whether it be credit score or amount of times late on previous residence). I do know that I had to tell ppl about different plans that were offered... What do you think the answer is? If you were president and you saw that a war had taken place in your country (something that hadn't been seen since the civil war), how would you handle the situation? Even after you have said what you want, the House still needs to say yay or nay. What country should we be fighting? My point was to give the other side to the same argument. This doesn't take away from what you have indicated. Rather it just says that these ppl can look at the SAME situation and see something totally different. I don't know the answer. I know it would be easy to say that if I were in charge I wouldn't have gone to war, etc. But unless I'm in those shoes, I have NO DIEA what I would've done. Adding to that, do we believe that what is going on is part of God's plan? Is it possible that this war interupted something else that would've happened? Possibly. But we wouldn't be able to tell that because we're looking at it from one perspective...... it's like the ppl at the trade center that for some reason were late to work that day, had to drop off their kids for work that day, ended up leaving and getting a cup of coffee in another building that morning........ though we don't like the outcome, could all of this be a way for God to get someone's attention or his way keeping us from something worse? I don't have all the answers....but just wanted to give some thoughts.... Modified: I did find out some information HERE regarding the fact that we've always had a deficit ( may have been a little lower....but a deficit nonetheless). Please feel free to review the information and see if it is legitimate.

Obama unveils new jobs ideas Politico Staff 2 hours, 40 minutes ago news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20081013/pl_politico/14523Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) on Monday released his Economic Rescue Plan for The Middle Class, described by the campaign as "a comprehensive four-part plan to deal with the immediate crisis that builds on proposals he has previously announced and includes several major new ideas." A campaign fact sheet is here. Here is a summary of the major new ideas in the four areas of Obama’s plan: 1. JOB CREATION: A New American Jobs Tax Credit. Obama is calling for a temporary tax credit for firms that create new jobs in the United States over the next two years. 2. RELIEF TO FAMILIES: Penalty-Free Withdrawals from IRAs and 401(k)s in 2008 and 2009. Obama is calling for new legislation to allow families to withdraw 15% of their retirement savings – up to a maximum of $10,000 – without facing a tax-penalty this year (including retroactively) and next year. 3. RELIEF TO HOMEOWNERS: 90 day foreclosure moratorium for homeowners that are acting in good faith. Financial institutions that participate in the Treasury’s financial rescue plan should be required to adhere to a homeowners code of conduct, including a 90-day foreclosure moratorium for any homeowners living in their homes that are making good faith efforts pay their mortgages. 4. RESPONDING TO THE FINANCIAL CRISIS: A Lending Facility to Address the Credit Crisis for States and Localities. Obama is calling on the Federal Reserve and the Treasury to work to establish a facility to lend to state and municipal governments, similar to the steps the Fed recently took to provide liquidity to the commercial paper market. The campaign said: "Obama’s plan also calls for temporarily eliminating taxes on unemployment insurance benefits; keeping all options on the table to help our automakers weather the financial crisis; having the Fed and Treasury prepare for guaranteeing a broader range of liabilities of the banking system; and instructing Treasury to help unfreeze markets for individual mortgages, student loans, car loans, loans for multi-family dwellings and credit card loans. "Background Note: All of the ideas in Obama’s plan can and should be done immediately. They either use existing authority or could be quickly passed in emergency legislation. Obama’s new ideas complement his existing proposals for emergency relief to help states avoid property tax increases, fast-tracked infrastructure investments to help create or save 1 million jobs, extended unemployment insurance, a lending facility for small businesses and aggressive efforts to help struggling families restructure their mortgages to stay in their homes." EXCERPTS FROM SENATOR OBAMA’S SPEECH UNVEILING HIS ECONOMIC RESCUE PLAN FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS We can’t wait to help workers and families and communities who are struggling right now – who don’t know if their job or their retirement will be there tomorrow; who don’t know if next week’s paycheck will cover this month’s bills. We need to pass an economic rescue plan for the middle-class and we need to do it now. Today I’m proposing a number of steps that we should take immediately to stabilize our financial system, provide relief to families and communities, and help struggling homeowners. It’s a plan that begins with one word that’s on everyone’s mind, and it’s spelled J-O-B-S. We’ve already lost three-quarters of a million jobs this year, and some experts say that unemployment may rise to 8% by the end of next year. We can’t wait until then to start creating new jobs. That’s why I’m proposing to give our businesses a new American jobs tax credit for each new employee they hire here in the United States over the next two years. We will also save one million jobs by creating a Jobs and Growth Fund that will provide money to states and local communities so that they can move forward with projects to rebuild and repair our roads, our bridges, and our schools. A lot of these projects and these jobs are at risk right now because of budget shortfalls, but this fund will make sure they continue. ……. At a time when the ups and downs of the stock market have rarely been so unpredictable and dramatic, we also need to give families and retirees more flexibility and security when it comes to their retirement savings. I welcome Senator McCain’s proposal to waive the rules that currently force our seniors to withdraw from their 401(k)s even when the market is bad. I think that’s a good idea, but I think we need to do even more. Since so many Americans will be struggling to pay the bills over the next year, I propose that we allow every family to withdraw up to 15% from their IRA or 401(k) – up to a maximum of $10,000 – without any fine or penalty throughout 2009. This will help families get through this crisis without being forced to make painful choices like selling their homes or not sending their kids to college. ……… For those Americans in danger of losing their homes, today I’m also proposing a three-month moratorium on foreclosures. If you are a bank or lender that is getting money from the rescue plan that passed Congress, and your customers are making a good-faith effort to make their mortgage payments and re-negotiate their mortgages, you will not be able to foreclose on their home for three months. We need to give people the breathing room they need to get back on their feet. It also means promoting a new ethic of responsibility. Part of the reason this crisis occurred is that everyone was living beyond their means – from Wall Street to Washington to even some on Main Street. CEOs got greedy. Politicians spent money they didn’t have. Lenders tricked people into buying home they couldn’t afford and some folks knew they couldn’t afford them and bought them anyway. We’ve lived through an era of easy money, in which we were allowed and even encouraged to spend without limits; to borrow instead of save. Now, I know that in an age of declining wages and skyrocketing costs, for many folks this was not a choice but a necessity. People have been forced to turn to credit cards and home equity loans to keep up, just like our government has borrowed from China and other creditors to help pay its bills. But we now know how dangerous that can be. Once we get past the present emergency, which requires immediate new investments, we have to break that cycle of debt. Our long-term future requires that we do what’s necessary to scale down our deficits, grow wages and encourage personal savings again. It’s a serious challenge. But we can do it if we act now, and if we act as one nation. We can bring a new era of responsibility and accountability to Wall Street and to Washington. We can put in place common-sense regulations to prevent a crisis like this from ever happening again. We can make investments in the technology and innovation that will restore prosperity and lead to new jobs and a new economy for the 21st century. We can restore a sense of fairness and balance that will give ever American a fair shot at the American dream. And above all, we can restore confidence – confidence in America, confidence in our economy, and confidence in ourselves. ============================================== Nikkol.... Sen. Obama answered some of our question.... What yu think about this plan?

I am personally TIRED of Republicans using me and my moral and religious beliefs just to get into office. It happens every election from local to the presidency. They come out the gate with FAMILY VALUES, ABORTIONS, SAME SEX MARRIAGES, SEX EDUCATION, PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION....and they say all the things that Christians want to hear. They claim to be Christians. They go to church, talk just enough about God to get us going.
Then what do we do? WE "VOTE BIBLE". Has anyone else heard that term? I'm in the midwest so it comes up every election. "We know what we believe. We don't vote democrat or republican. We vote Bible. We vote for the one that has our same values." (Which means republican) So here we go all the little gullible Christians and go to the poles and VOTE BIBLE. Then after we get them into office they cut Medicaid. They take money out of our schools. They cut Social Security to the point that my mother had to choose many times between FOOD AND MEDICINE! My momma was one of millions of seniors who couldn't always buy both food and medicine. If it weren't for her children bringing her groceries sometimes what would she have eaten? And what about the seniors who don't have anyone bringing them anything.
Those republicans PIMP Christians for our votes based on our morals and religious beliefs and then they screw over us every time. I'm tired of it. Have we not noticed that when the media begins to discuss which "vote" will win elections or turn the tables it is ALWAYS the BLACK VOTE, OR THE CHRISTIAN VOTE (Evangelical/bible belt)
While we are tangled up on voting bible, thinking that it's going to keep certain things from becoming legal, all of those things are still becoming legal. The bottom line of all of this truly is, "what does the bible say?" Because no matter who gets elected president every prophecy in the Word of God is going to be fulfilled. The Word of God overrides republican or democrat.
But I will say that Obama has my vote. Not just because he's black. People are so silly. But then again, look at how many white people won't vote for him simply because he's black. We'll never get around that. I like the things I've heard him say. I know that he's more liberal on issues that I morally disagree with but I'll take him over McCain any day.
McCain is old, forgetful, has had cancer more than once, and has a dingbat running with him who, if he died, would be our president. THAT alone should send people to the poles to vote for Obama.
I can only imagine out P'd off Hilary Clinton must be every time she sees or hears Sarah Palin. As much as she had to offer we still chose Obama for the democratic ticket and here we have the village idiot running for vice president! It's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen in my life. The woman is a JOKE.
