hey Guys, Did TD Jakes really promote Will Smith's movie 7 pounds? I hope not because it was not biblically based at all... And yes it was depressing and sad i agree... My date didn't like it either and every one in tbe theatre was somber and quiet when the film was over.... I felt as if he left a lot of unanswered questions...too many holes... Kitty Yes, he promoted it. I receive emails from The Bishop's Blog, from bishop Jakes. There were pictures of them at the premiere and Biship Jakes encouraged everybody to go see the movie. And let me get it straight ....it was either on his Bishop's Blog or an email I get from Essence Mag. When I hear Will talk lately he sounds like he's encountered some strong spiritual influence. A lady at my church and I were talking about that. She'd noticed it too. And about 2 days later I saw the article on him and Jakes, plus he grew up in the Baptist chuch. When he was on Oprah he sounded like he had been reconnecting with his spiritual roots. And yes Gap he was sad all through the movie. That's another thing that pulled me down. (although I do think he is sexy when he cries) If I'm gonna look at a sad face all through the movie then bless God someone needs to be smiling at the end! People really enjoyed the love story part of the film and that's what I noticed too about those who promoted it. (they sayit was a beautiful love story. but to me his sadness put t damper on it). I usually do too. But about 10 minutes into the movie I'd figured out what what going on.

Will and Jada started their own church. what kind of church... everything that has doors aint a church in my book ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I deleted my former post because I have found contradicting articles. I have found some that say they are Christian Scientists and I have found articles where Will Smith declares he is not a member of their church and where he says he is a Christian. They have however donated a lot of money to the Church of Scientology.... So because of this I deleted my post because I cannot say he is a member of Scientology if he himself refutes it. However I do know this.. We need more actors and artists to OPENLY claim their faith in JESUS and opnely declare that JESUS IS LORD...

What does the title mean?
In Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice the central character demands the payment of a pound of flesh from those who are in debt to him. The 'pound of flesh' refers to an onerous debt, one that is either unable to be paid (but demanded), one that is far in excess of the amount owed, or one in which the payment is set to adamantly exacting standards. Ben has a debt to repay for the seven lives he took and so the phrase is both metaphorical and literal since six of the debts are repaid with his actual "flesh

Honestly all you really need is for Morris Chestnut to even be in the movie to arouse lust. Well let's just tell the truth. All you have to do for some women is just say his name and there go the lust. What shocked me was after I saw 7 pounds I wondered how iin the world could Jakes have promoted that movie. That's what confused me. Have yawl seen that sad mess. Will Smith bout to git on my nerves with these depressing movies. The same with that darned Benjamin Button. Unless you want to leave the theatre totally depressed please don't go see either of those. Just go see the dog movies. Amen to all of the above Vin.... Will's movie was so depressing it got on my nerves. I was like Oh my God, what is this. It just about killed all of the holiday spirit that I had. Didn't know that it was promoted by TD Jakes especially with the steamy love scene. Haven't seen Benjamin Buttons yet and probably won't. The Changeling with Angelina Jolie is another piece of depressing work. Why did they release all of these movies around Christmas? Makes me think it was a conspiracy to steal the Christmas spirit!!! ;D

But, that's incorrect. Since the average male heart weighs more than the average femal heart, it doesn't make sense. I had no problem understanding why he did what he did throughout the movie, just that is was so darn sad all the way through.

I guess you was turn on throughout the movie LOL... I didn't see the movie... after reading all the comments, I will wait to see it on DVD a dollar a day movie... Most of Will Smith movies are either depressing or adventure (super hero)... I don't go to movies much because I am hearing impaired, almost deaf and they don't have close capture. Too difficult to read lips.

May be this is why many ministers are sent to Hollywood... to preach correct gospel and to bring these souls into the Kingdom.
Why is it that when a celebrity get saved... they believe they are ready to preach... They need to sit down and be trained, broken, discipled an learn and study the Word.

Why did they release all of these movies around Christmas? Makes me think it was a conspiracy to steal the Christmas spirit!!! ;D Studios release what they consider their most prestigious (epics and dramas) at the end of the year because movie goers and Academy voters have short memories. Both the studios and the films' producers want their movies to be remembered when voting and nominations are made for the Oscars in February. People are more likely to recall and nominate a movie they saw in December vs. one they saw earlier in the year and can barely remember. Will Smith releases his dramas (Pursuit of Happyness and Seven Pounds) in December but his action films in summer, typically around the July 4th holiday.

I was kinda wondering about the 7 pounds. I knew there were seven people but I didn't know about the pounds history. Interesting.
I knew he felt guillty and indebted because it was his negligence that caused the accident that killed his fiance.
I also wondered if it's possible for a male to give his heart to a female. I just recently seen Dr Oz on Oprah and he explained and showed that the male heart and lungs are larger than the females and also the arteries and stuff that run through them. I guess maybe it can really be done.

yeah, I like the flow of it. I'm gonna go see Not Easily Broken tomorrow. I'll bring back an opinion. My friend called me today and told me she went to see it but it was sold out. So they went to see 7 Pounds instead. Hated it. She didn't understand the title so I was able to share it with her...just that quick after reading the post explaining it.
