just a thought.... why is every other topic or every third topic about marriage/singles/divorce/dating etc etc... OR some church that has a minister in trouble...
Arent there other things going on in this Kingdom that bears discussion...
I was watching a movie the other day called Escape from Hell.. now the movie was very very lame but it reminded me....
THIS is what JESUS has done for me..... not that I had forgotten but sometimes you need a refresher....

What do you guys think about Bishop Jake's new movie? I mean I know it hasn't come out yet, but already I think I see some issues I might have with it.

I might go see it today. Was trying to get my family together to go see it this weekend. If they don't I'll definitely go see it Monday while the stinkers are at school.
Something interesting about the comment the critic made about predictability. It just hit me. Actually often when people are about to fall into some temptation or area that is going to cause them or their household a lot of trouble, it is predictiable. Often everybody can see what's happening and what's about to happen. They discuss it with each other and even try to warn the person. But I heard a quote the other day that said, "There is none so blind as he who WILL NOT see.
Think about parents and pastors and counsellors who have seen it all before and their heart just breaks to have to watch the people go down such a predictable path. So maybe a movie being predictable in that sense is not such a bad thing. You know what I mean? Just a thought.

I am confused....How is discussing this movie which is about marital problems and other relationship issues any different from discussing marriage/singles/divorce/dating etc.... I thought the topic of this thread was "Can We Talk About Something Else" meaning other than these issues.

Well honestly, I don't know what exactly the movie is about. But I have some issues with some scenes that I've seen. This is supposed to be a movie promoted by a Christian pastor, yet one of the covers or one of the stillshots I've seen has Morris Chestnut and his buddies on the basketball court, all of them with no shirts on. Now aside from the fact that I'm mad my body ain't that tight yet (that's another discussion, LOL), I was a bit surprised that a scene that could so easily arouse lust in the sisters would be included in this movie.

Honestly all you really need is for Morris Chestnut to even be in the movie to arouse lust. Well let's just tell the truth. All you have to do for some women is just say his name and there go the lust.
What shocked me was after I saw 7 pounds I wondered how iin the world could Jakes have promoted that movie. That's what confused me. Have yawl seen that sad mess. Will Smith bout to git on my nerves with these depressing movies. The same with that darned Benjamin Button. Unless you want to leave the theatre totally depressed please don't go see either of those. Just go see the dog movies.

Well, it's T.D. Jakes , and it has been stated that he is moving further and further away from strong Christian Doctrine. IF this is the case (and I don't know if it is) then it can be expected for when one moves away from the Word they will do almost anything for the money. I haven't decided if I am going to see it yet though - I just may, but don't know. School is in session and I just won't have the time.

I went to see it on Christmas Day because I spend the day alone and was very upset that I decided on that movie. Many others just thought it was the best movie ever, apparently we didn't see the same one!

This was my first holiday season NOT suffering from the blues. Man if I had been...that movie would have done me all the way in. People was focusing on the "love story" part of it, but NO. Will Smith is on this "live my life in service to mankind" since he feels so blessed and fortunate. But they way he's interpreting that in the movies he's choosing, even I Am Legend, is a bit OFF. I love hearing him talk about his family and his marriage. He seems like a all around wonderful guy. But this "service to mankind" ministry he got might need some tweeking.

hey Guys, Did TD Jakes really promote Will Smith's movie 7 pounds? I hope not because it was not biblically based at all... And yes it was depressing and sad i agree... My date didn't like it either and every one in tbe theatre was somber and quiet when the film was over.... I felt as if he left a lot of unanswered questions...too many holes...

Well, I guess I'm the odd ball of the lot (as usual) cause I thoroughly enjoyed Seven Pounds. As an avid movie go, my favorite types being action, drama, and almost anything based on a true story, the movie did not lag, kept moving, kept me interested, and since I went to be entertained, not ministered to, the movie told a good story.
The issues I had with the movie were 1) Will Smith's sad and pathetic look all through the movie - I felt that he could have been a little more versitile with his facial expressions. He only showed us one basic expression throughout the whole movie
2)The title was never fully explained(seven was but pounds wasn't), nor was the fact that other than them all being good people, the seven people he chose all had his rare blood type
Some say too much time was spent on the girl with the bad heart and not enough on the other people he gave organs to. They do have a point there, but I understand why - two things sell movies in mainstream America: sex and violence.
Again, I think it was a good movie, I'd watch it again and will probably purchase it when it comes out on DVD. I saw it with my brother the week after Christmas. He enjoyed it as much as I did. However, my son, my sister and my mother did NOT like the movie at all.
