I have a big, big, big question......Resently i have been studying on Faith and one of the problems that borthers me is when people prays or in their prayer they'll says "LORD IF ITS YOUR WILL". If its says in the Lord's prayer "THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN" why are we praying "lord if its your will"

Do we always pray God's Will? Don't we sometime pray our desires and want?

All of this is dependent on how one views the will of God, which is a tough enough subject within itself.

I agree that GOD will is HIS WORD, however we also have to recognize that GOD has a will for each and every believer specifically and its our job to seek OUT that will and purpose for our lives.

God's will is His Word.......... Right and I think many times we overlook this in search of something more. I often pray "Lord if it's your will, x-y-z" because I recognize that even my most sincere heart felt intentions for something may not be God's will.

I need to say something here and I hope I dont offned someone's sensabilities by saying this...
We have to stop being so lazy and laissez faire regarding the " Will of God ". We in the Body of Christ have been given the blessing, and the RIGHT by GOD to KNOW His will. This is OUR privilidge as the saints of GOD. The scripture tells us that the secret of the Lord is with them that fear him. The scripture tells us that it is given unto us to KNOW the mysteries of the Kingdom. The scripture tells us that we have been given the KEY of Knowledge...
Then WHY for the love of JESUS do we continue to walk around like...
Well we dont know the will of God and we cant be sure what it is...
I say.. BOULDERDASH...
Its not that His will is unknowable.. or unsearchable...
WE HAVE NOT BECAUSE WE ASK NOT...
We are JUST TOO LAZY !!!! we let the pastor, preacher prophet etc press in but not us. We have convinced ourselves that is for THEM but its not for us...
Or We havent gotten enough of the CRAP put our lives where we can press in to KNOW HIM..
OR He revealed HIS WILL and we do what WE want to do...
OR we have this stupid belief ( and I have seen this said MANY time in the Body ) I dont want to to be accountable.. so we seek NOTHING thinking we can can only be held accountable for what we know...
God has given us the GIFT of TONGUES.. aka praying in the Spirit so that we can PRAY the WILL of GOD. The scripture says when we dont KNOW how to pray that the SPIRIT of GOD will help and assist us to pray... but many of us dont take the time to pray in the Spirit... we spend more time praying in our natural language than our spiritual one... when the scripture says we should pray with the understanding AND pray in the Spirit...
Many of us the only time we utilize our spiritual gift is when there is a HIGH time at the church and its huck and buck time and the Hammond B is going....
ENOUGH is ENOUGH...
Its time that we stop making excuses for NOT knowing HIS will and begin to seek Him FOR His will...
rant off...

I also agree with you Giants. God's word is his will yes, but there is a will for our lives that we must fulfil, by searching his word, his spirit, and God himself in prayer.
This is what God told me about eight months ago when I was whining about his will. He spoke His word to me just as plain as day: "Present your body a living sacrifice to God, holy and acceptable - do not be conformed to this world, but become transformed by the renewing of your mind and you will PROVE what is that perfect and acceptable and perfect WILL OF GOD."
I was like, oh, okay. I thought I knew that, but I wasn't living it, breathing it, doing it, and walking in it !!!!

I am with KB God's Will is such a complex subject matter. There are so many interpretations, and such a vast view on God's will, the will of God, etc.
I think first and foremost, God's will is that every man establishes a relationship with Him, that every man continues to deny himself and take up the cross, regardless of its cost, and that we make disciples so that they to can do as above, and bring in more.
When it comes to a "specific will" for our lives, I think we should remember that God's word is the lamp unto our feet, and the light unto our path, and when HE is directing, leading, and guiding... then we are using the gifts he's given, we are walking out the word in our lives, to ultimately do what?
All that's mentioned in paragraph two. =)

Many of you have said things that i have been seeing in my studys. Someone had mention that we should pray more in our spiritual language and that is so true. In the book of 1st Corinthians 12:7-10 it says that the gifts of healings and the working of miracles are manifestations of the Spirit of God. However, we can't always guarantee that God is going to move spectacularly throught the gifts of the Spirit, because the Bible says, "BUT ALL THESE GIFTS WORKETH THAT ONE AND THE SELFSAME SPIRIT, DIVIDING TO EVERY MAN SEVERALLY AS HE WILL". Meaning we do not always know when God will move spectacularly throught the gifts of the Spirit and we do know that God's Word always works.
If the Word of God says what it said we need to keep in mind that when the gifts of the Spirit are not in manifestation, people can still have what they heart desire wheather it be healing through faith in God's Word. It needs to be taught that in Word of God that by getting people to exercise their own faith through the Word and know and believe that Word of God is anointed. God's Word is the same whether I feel the anointing or not, and the Word always works!
We also need to know that whatever our hearts desire according to His Word it is in God's redemptive plan. Faith gives action to the power if you believe when you pray God promised to grant the things you ask for in prayer when you believe that you receive. Let me ask this question, "IS PRAYER FOR EVERYONE? or IS IT THAT SOME ARE SUPPOSED TO PRAY AND OTHERS ARE NOT?
In the Subject of Mark 11 is prayer; it's not simply gaining the desire of your heart. Jesus tells us how to get "what things soever ye desire" through prayer. what really blew my mind in my studies was this and it was hard to swallow. When a person prays "Lord if its thy will" they are confessing that they're not saved, because the Bible says,"FOR BY GRACE ARE YE SAVED THROUGH FAITH". Save people should have faith, faith enough to believe that whatever we pray for that it will happen, when you believe you receive and you receive before it happens.
One last thing before I continue on the Bible says in Prov. 20:27 "The Spirit of man is the candle of the Lord searching all the inward parts of the belly, meaning that God's will direct you through your spirit. And I believe that someone had mention that all ready however we need to believe that God's Word Is His Will and we need to stop saying in our prayer Lord if its your will. God's Word contains all we need or a successful Christian life. But it won't work for us if you just place the bible somewhere collecting dust.God's Word will never produce for us until you plant it in your heart and cultivate it. Its our responsibility to walk in the light of the Word.
FAITH COMETH BY HEARING, AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD. atrue

It seems here that we are speaking more on a personal level, regarding the will of God for our lives. I agree that this is knowable and that God wants us to know His will concerning us.
However, when we start talking about the will of God on a broader level, that's when things can get a bit murky.

However, when we start talking about the will of God on a broader level, that's when things can get a bit murky. Thats why we have the the Bible His written and recorded will, and prophecy given unto the church. Even on a broader level GOD can and WILL make His will known clearly.

^So then, what would you say of all the saints that lost their lives on 9/11? Were they not hearing from God? Were they out of the will of God?
