I see that we say this A LOT and I really wonder if we really understand what this means and what this scripture says. Discuss please... What does this REALLY mean that GOD will give us the desire of our heart Well, taken in context, the scripture means exactly what it says, literally: Psalm 37:4-5 AMP "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass."My revelation regarding this scripture is that God will give you the who, what and thing to desire..... .....in essence God's guides us in the desiring process......... That's something that has been taught in latter years, but in context it's not really what the scripture is saying. Although of course if we are truly delighting ourselves in the Lord, our hearts desires will match his will.

To me, it's really critical to examine what we believe to be the desires of our heart. And, because Jesus said: Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.(I know KB... Context, context, context! it is possibe that often, individually and corporately, we (general) have been exercising our faith, rebuking, binding and loosing, for things that Jesus said are given to us, IF we seek first the kingdom of God AND his righteousness... (not trying to overlap with the other threads about those topics). I also believe that, when it comes to "desires of your heart", we are often very much "down to earth" and self centered, and miss the big picture or lose track of the purpose of all things according to God's will, for his creation as a whole.

Hey Guys,
I agree with Gap... I believe that the scripture is meant in a literal sense. However I think many of us forget that we really need to be committed, to truly delight in the Lord... and of course the scriptures that Nina post... Seek yet first the Kingdom...
However... I do believe that as we seek the Lord, delight in Him, and seek His Kingdom many of our desires will be changed or at least seen in a different light.
