I believe she has on a overcoat that goes perfectly with her dress. it's way to cold to not have on the proper attire.

I am absolutely astounded that on this, a predominately African American forum that there is no mention of the inauguration of Barrack Obama as the 44th President of the United States. This Canadian is happy and praying for your new president. Am I the only one? C'mon, speak up! ;D Don't be astounded; I am just getting back down to Earth after yesterday's celebration..... I was overjoyed, elated as I watched History surrounded by my mother (60); my aunt (65) my uncle (70); my uncle (66); my stepfather (61); my niece (3); my sister (35); my cousin(40); my husband (51); my cousin (29); my cousin (4) and many more family and friends but what amazed me more is the generation gaps that were at the house and how each one of us gathered on that day to watch history..... The older ones shed so many tears and as I looked across the room; I couldn't help but cry too......because I thought about all the stories each one of them shared with me how as little children growing up in the deep south they were told everything they couldn't do because the color of their skin..... And on yesterday America swore in their first African American President........ We had a joyous occasion, my family all decided to get together to celebrate the day together as oppose to being scattered all across the country....... We had a WONDERFUL time!

I would have started the thread, but I'm actually in DC now (leaving for Charlotte tomorrow). The inauguration was a SPECTACULAR event; can't wait for Obama's 2nd one in 2013!

Seriously though, If KB can share what it was like when he has time that would be a great thing to share. I didn't have a desire to go but I know many people from my job took the day off to watch the festivities on television. I didn't. However, I did view many of the News stations that evening to get some of the highlights from it.

i guess there was no drama so there's nothing to discuss perhaps if juanita bynum had been there, we'd have a bigger thread lol I believe she was there... she changed her birthday bash date because of the inauguration... ;D TW couldn't make it ... the probation officer say NO ;D U really love them... U even brought JB to this thread (Joking) I know it was very cold, but the excitement warm the bones... President Obama was nervous .... before going out... He stood still for a minute with his eye closed as if he was praying.... I believe he was. This was the great moment in his life... And to have millions of ppl waiting to see the transformation, screaming and yelling out your name with excitement, can be overwheling.... He have done many great speeches with boldness and confident.... but this short four line swear in was over practice.... he had a dressed rehearsal in the Capital, with his hand on Lincoln's Bible just before lining up to go out. Judge Robert (right?) was more nervous than he and left out the word "faithfully" I got the best VIP front seat and didn't miss a word with cc.... and my ears, hands, nose and feet didn't get frost bitten or even cold.... I didn't have to look over anyone shoulders or push anyone out of the way.... I was able to cry :'(without my tear turning into ice. It was an experience I will never foget.... President Obama managed to go to all 10 of the Inauguration Balls He did the Traditional walk to the old fashion bump... He may be half white, but have whole lot of Black in his dance President Obama and First Lady Michelle are a perfect couple. You can feel and see the love they have for each other. You see them holding hands smiling at each other... And the girl are adorable and very managed.

What was it like....
Well....
For starters, it was CROWDED, and that's a serious understatement. My friend and I woke up late Tuesday morning, so we got out there around 11am along with his church members from his hometown in NC. We weren't actually on the mall, but gathered along the side next to one of the Smithsonian museums where a jumbotron was set up. And it was COLD! Leaving was just plain CRAZY. They shut down all the downtown streets and even the interstate sections that ran through downtown, so people were walking in the streets and even on the interstate getting back to their buses and to the Metro (subway) stations. We walked a pretty long ways to get to a Metro station and by the time we did, my leg and back were hurting and I was tired.
And I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Loved every minute of it!
