I believe, from what I read in Sister to Sister, Yolanda did it as a favor to Chaka Khan. Now, whether she prayed about it first, or repented... I can't tell you. I can tell you this... she sang the song as a singer... BTW: She sang Sweet Thang, by herself... she said I'm Every Woman with Chaka, who sang the verse.... See thats where I believe lies the problems. She not just a singer. She is a minister of the gospel. I have a problem with gospel singers, who want to be reconized as just singers..theres a problem with that. I don't like the term artist either, and more and more I am beginning to see why.

I just have issues with stuff like this because without watering it down... its compromise. Seriously...If your going to be a Gospel singer, then SING GOSPEL... if your just an Artist who is confused about your calling and what limitations we have as Christians then sit down, dont call yourself a minister of the gospel and get some good teaching... bottom line. Yes as christians we have liberty, but our liberty has has restrictions and regs that we MUST follow. People crack me up with the "how are they ever going to see Jesus if we are too afraid to go where they are"... the problem is that the reason they are doing what they are doing is because THEY HAVE ALREADY rejected the Jesus of the bible. Stop compromising and start praying..start living a godly standard filled life.. God NEVER compromised.. some of the saints need to ditch this compromising christianity and get with standard the resists satanic floods.. Sorry for my rant... back to my corner I must gooooooo...lol I'm with ya on this one.

LoL @ MissKay..I was wondering why the saints always watching the awards..lol
I had someone ask me yesterday if I saw the new beyonce video. I looked at them like, Why would I want to see it? And more frankly why are you watching it? I wasn't being rude but they was sooo excited about it. I was just like wow, and okay.
My mother, and sisters call me all the time..oohh turn the channel, the awards on, and I have to repeatidly tell them..I don't watch that stuff. I used another word. (garbage).
but thats my convictions. I know what I was delivered from. Have to be careful of the "earcandy". (secular music)

BTW: She sang Sweet Thang, by herself... she said I'm Every Woman with Chaka, who sang the verse.... Now Sweet Thang is even worse than I'm Every Woamn.... Some of the lyrics to Sweet Thang: " I will love you anyway even if you cannot stay. I think you are the one for me here is where you ought to be. I just want to satisfy you. You're not mine I can't deny you." And No saint of God should be promoting fornication and Audutery....... I don't care if she is just singing the song for Chaka as a Singer......That's just crazy..... She is first of all a redeemed child of God and she uphold the standards of Christ whether she has a gift of singing or not!!! BTW: I can't hardly watch shows like that either they usually just make me sick and I would have definitely been sick if I saw Yolanda Adams up there singing Sweet Thang!!

First off I happened to see this and was very disappointed. However our Asst Pastor had said earlier that month that she had seen Yolanda Adams sing and noticed a definite change in the anointing. When I saw this level of compromise I was not suprised. She sang with Kayne and now doing Chaka tunes. Oh well.
The reason I believe why so many african american christians watch this stuff is what I call the "minstrel spirit". We just loooooooooooove music and flamboyance. We watch to see who wearing what and who with who. We like to see people saaaang. We love to be entertained.
What we need is Black Information Television..
Unfortunately less African Americans would watch... Unless its gossip... then we tune in....
It amazes me how many Christians know who all these new artists are and their songs..

I agree with that bro... Its sad because its gives off a false representation of who Jesus is and what Christianity is about. so when Chaka, Kanye, Puffy, Beyonce, and all those other people who gets up and say.."I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" their is now no difference when Yolanda Adams says it, or donnie, or any artist... in the viewers eyes. because they they are not judged by their lifestyles...they are judged by their own words. So when Puffy goes off... the viewer says..."and he is supposed to be a christian" and when Yolanda Adams sings Im every woman.. the viewer thinks its okay..because thats what Christians do..."compromise"..

Do you see Evengelist Denise Williams going on tour with Prince redoing Vanity songs Do you see Candi Station back out on stage singing for the world.. NOPE.. If its the past let it stay past.. Let the dead bury the dead..

I think you may be wrong about Candi Staton: when she comes to the UK, and she does regularly, she definitely does her old hits on stage. That's what they want to hear, that's what she does. She might plug a newly released one, but the old stuff is definitely very much there.

It amazes me how many Christians know who all these new artists are and their songs.. Errbody aint been saved all they lives! Thats true everyone aint been saved all their lives.. I can remember a bunch of old rap tunes by heart line for line because I used to be a DJ.. But by the same token I dont know even 1/4 of all these new rap guys and I dont know ONE song word for word since I have been saved. What suprises me is the LONG time saved folks that can repeat all the NEW folks stuff word for word..
