If you make your bed hard, you gotta lay in it.
It's hard to be big with little gotcha.

I heard this in reference to not dating someone that you work with...
"Don't get your meat where you make your bread..."

i am actually working on a small chapbook of all the sayings of my grandmother, but the number one thing use to say to me was whenever she would tell me something and i would say 'really grandmom, i didn's know that!' she would always say:
"HUMPH - THERE'S ENOUGH YOU DON'T KNOW TO MAKE A WHOLE 'NOTHER WORLD!!!"
;D

My grandma favorite sayings were:
1. I don't trust him as far as I can throw him.
2. Don't toot your own horn.
3. You can't teach an old dog, new tricks
and I have kept those sayings with me, because I have found truth in them
Now, there is another saying that the Church mother at our church says before she testifies, she always says.. "I'll give you the long and short of it".... I always find that funny.

Another one my grandmother use to say was "Treat people right cause you never know who you may have to ask to gve you a drink of water before you die."Simple yet profound. I miss my grandmom, y'all.
