Are revivals scriptural?

I’ve never seen anything alive and functioning that required reviving.
Jesus never spoke of great revivals to come because with God, such a thing is not necessary.
Often people are so desperate for a touch from God that they will do whatever and go wherever to get it. I’ve found that most revivals are merely a revival of hype with no actual substance or lasting effect, and in the rare cases when something genuine does happen, whatever God did is suddenly turned into a dead ritual for future generations.
We’re great at taking a once beautiful and spirit-filled moment with God and killing it by making it a tradition or letter law. Then we wonder why God isn’t moving in that manner anymore or why He doesn’t do for us what He did for someone else.
But in answer to your question, I don't think it's scriptural in a "God wants us to do this" or "God is giddy when we do this" sense.

I believe that the church has not really learned the key to maintaining a perpetual move of God hence why seeing the kindgdom spread has not been a reality in many places.

I sometimes wonder whether we desire our concept of revival based on our perceptions of revival and not on Gods desire for our assembly.
Our perceptions may be flawed based on what is happening somewhere else where we see outward manifestations and not the inward work that God desires for that church, which they may or may not be receiving.

WOW what a powerful statement regarding revivals! How can churches be a Bible Beliving Blood Bought thriving functioning church filled with the Holy Ghost and need revival............ Simple.. read the book of Revelation and see the message to the seven churches. There are times a church or its member may need revival.. The Word revive does not only mean " to make alive again " or to " revive from the dead " The Word revival ALSO means 1) to activate, set in motion, or take up again; renew: 2) to make operative or valid again. 3) to be quickened, restored, or renewed, as hope, confidence, suspicions, or memories. so most certainly there can be times when individuals or even the church can be in need of revival...
