Hey Nina, I don't think much is going to change... except that maybe doctors will be sure to do more of a psych screening and a background check ahead of time...
After all a lot of things that Octo Mom is stating is not really true. For example... I think it will come to light that there was a second doctor involved who implanted the last 8. Her parents spok with the first doctor and explained what her true home situation was and asked him not to implant her again.
She also lied about being a member of and expecting help from a church. The church that she declared publicly to be a member of... as well as declaring that they agree to giving her support with raising her kids... Made a PR statement to the news stations. They reported that she wasn't a member of their church nor had they agreed to support her behavior in any way. The church stated that she had come to them to ask for help previously in one of their social programs before being pregnant with the 8.
Personally... I think her behavior is going to be stopped because I don't think that she is going to be able to get custody of her 8 newborns. They already have special needs because they are newborns and she doesn't have the money or the man power to handle it. She is already being investigated by child welfare.... not to mention that public out cry. She hasn't helped her own case one bit by the interviews that she has been giving. It only clarifies that she is unbalanced. Even her mother has stated it...
Her get her hands on 8 babies? She ain't even got a car with 8 car seats to walk them outta the hospital. It just ain't gonna happen! LOL
What do the rest of you guys think?

OK... Maybe not much is going to change, but - imho - isn't that exactly the question re "should it be changed? Why? And how much of it should be revisited and reconsidered?"
Again, the media took hold of this and it became nothing but tabloids frenzy, which left all the real questions regarding fertility etc... basically out of the picture.
Exactly what are we talking about here? Or rather who are we talking about? We are talking about eight innocent children, brought into this world in a certain environment, under certain conditions, by certain means....
So, is that all there is to it? Who is going to pay to raise the babies? Obviously, it should be a concern, it should be brought up, but for it to become the number one question and nothing else....
And, most of all, what about us, christians? Why is it so difficult to catch the attention, let alone "mobilize" - for lack of a better word - the attention of, not even "the church", but christians at large when it matters??? Because things are happening, and things are being done, and they do - eventually - come to the light and make the front page again, and it's basically too late because the mole has turned into a mountain! Then, it becomes everybody's business, and the church is just another voice among the others, and not necessarily the one with the right answers either.
So... they did not agree to support her behavior in any way... Does "in any way" include not even caring about what could, would, might happen to the babies? Wouldn't it be great to read instead that a church, some church, some believers, somewhere, got together and did not wait for the government or the media to dictate their behavior in those circumstances, but just listened to their heart and went and did what God says do??
I know... that's too idealistic?
And again, maybe, yes, there is a good chance that she is not fit to be a mother to those children, not the six first ones, not the eight new ones. Whatever her motivations were, they seem (keyword) to be and have been the wrong ones all along.
However, the way it has turned out, again, thanks to the media, is about taking side, but never really about what really matters: the fate of these babies!
Then, there are major ethical matters that have been vaguely mentioned and quickly pushed back under all the rugs on hand...
The sad - tragic - part is that when doors started to be slammed in the face of the mother, they also were slammed on the fate of the children...
