Hey Gap,
Still I am asking... What is the difference between courting and engagement to you? What is the teaching according to your church?
Guys in general the churches that I have attended have different definitions of dating, courting/courtship and engagement... Yes people can simply "talk" about marriage... They can voice opinions etc... I think the deciding factor is what is the intentions of the couple. In my case we intentionally discussed our goals for the relationship and decided to go into a courtship.

hey Guys,
I think we can futher discuss dating and courtship etc in a different topic... For this topic I just wanted to state that it seems to me that some how we have gotten to a point where we as Christians seem to believe that finding the right person and getting married "should" be easy... At least that is what I seem to be getting from many people.
What are you guys views?

Hey Kitty, thanks for putting us back on track with the thread, you're right the topic kinda got hijacked, huh? Sorry about that. A new thread for courting vs dating may be in order.
As for my own views on your opening post (accepting that the process is a painful one) I've already given a lengthy reply to that, so I'm gonna go back to the sidelines (for now, wink wink).

Im going to be very honest here.. I think the process has challenges that come with the process itself.. but that WE make it far more difficul at times and that WE are often our own worst enemy...
I also just cannot agree with the premise that God will not inform us of his will and his intentions. There is just too much scripture that shows me otherwise.

There is just too much scripture that shows me otherwise. just popping back in to second this emotion. i am a witness that god reveals his will and answers our questions in many ways, sometimes we just refuse to read the signs cause it's not what we want to hear, we prefer to remain in denial, hoping that if wait long enough, pray hard enough, fast long enough, cry hard enough, believe hard enough, in the end it will come to pass....

Giants, Nobody is saying that God doesn't reveal His will... He just has more than one way of doing it... He can operate in our circumstances just as much as He can gives us a dream or a prophetic word. I'm personally just not at a point where I will say that unless someone has gotten something "supernatural" that God isn't present...
After all the word also states for us to lean not on our own understanding, but in all our ways to acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths... Doesn't that mean trusting that God has control even when we don't have a "word" already on the situation? As long as we have prayed to Him, turned it over to Him, acknowledge Him, then get up and and lead our lives according to the bible?
After dealing with 2 very "supernatural" experiences in relationships... In which both men claimed to have heard from God... And I received what I believed to be a word from God and confirmation through other believers...One being a Rev. who knewn nothing about my personal life... I'm just not declaring that God MUST operate and reveal who my husband is through a prophetic word.
But that doesn't mean that I don't pray to God about being married or who I marry. I'm just trusting that God will bless me with husband and I'm just trusting that God will make it clear in the natural.... Meaning that the young man in question and I will meet, have interest in each other, we will both be seeking marriage, enter into courtship where we get to know each other and see if our life styles, life plans and goals and personalities line up... Where I observe his walk with God and he observes mine.
