Ok, BB family............I am involved in a light debate on FB and I decided to bring the topic to some the sharp minds on HOR........ Question: Could you as a lay member sit under a Pastor who is not Prosperous? First define prosperous... If this is where I am planted ,I don't have much of a choice, but I wouldn't want to.... All through the Bible God speak of financial blessing... What is Financial Blessing? Rich Wealthy Prosperous No more room to receive, but not rich More than enough or just enough? Example...I stop working January 2007 my unemployment that suppose to be 23 weeks.... continue for over 2 years, I'm still receiving it along with SSI... I'm not rich or wealth... Is this consider a financial blessing? My student with interest is $21,000, they allowing me to pay $25/month Define financial blessing... does it dependent on individual circumstances?

If God told me to sit there i will. Again it depends there are people who God habitually asks to give away everything and depend on Him day to day.
You have people who have thousands passing into their hands on a daily basis but keep very little for themselves apart from a house, a car that runs and just basically live a simple life whilest giving everything to the ministry so again it depends on what prosperity means to you....

Generally, I believe God operates with protocol. If he allows you sit under leaders, they would already have had reach and and ability to pour into your life, correct your life and guide your life in the level that you walk. So generally God will not place you in a church in which those leaders haven't already been or experienced where you are or else how can they lead you? In the case that they don't believe what you believe, I agree that you can't leave unless God leads or if you decide to be released it will be done orderly and after close examination of your own heart.

I have no problem with a pastor who lives meagerly. But if he's mismanaging his own finances and is ably bodied and depending on the government to sustain him, then to me that would be a problem. But who knows? I might be sent there for a purpose.
I still need a bit more clarification about a pastor "who doesn't believe in financial blessings." Are we talking about a pastor who doesn't believe that it's biblical to ask God to provide for us financially? Or a pastor not caught up in the prosperity gospel hoopla? I think there's a difference.
