Rev. Ike, preached prosperity, dies in LA at 74 LOS ANGELES – The minister known as Reverend Ike, who preached the gospel of material prosperity to millions nationwide, has died. He was 74. Bishop E. Bernard Jordan, a minister and family spokesman, told the New York Times that The Rev. Frederick J. Eikerenkoetter II died Tuesday in Los Angeles. Jordan says Reverend Ike suffered a stroke in 2007 and never fully recovered. At his United Church Science of Living Institute, housed in a former movie theater in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood, Reverend Ike preached the power of what he called "positive self-image psychology" to his 5,000 parishioners. In the 1970s, he was one of the first evangelists to reach an audience of millions through television.

Rev. Ike, now that's a name I haven't heard since I was a kid. Wow! I remember him being on television with processed, slick greasy hair, loud colorful suits, fists full of money and screaming about how people could be rich. He always reminded me of James Brown.

Rev Ike has transitioned on to somewhere……because he believed in the here and now…… I wonder what’s going to happen when he realizes that heaven is richer than NYC Anyway, I got to give Rev. Ike props…….he did it and did it well! At least he was honest and you knew right up front what he was all about…. I respect Rev. Ike because he never hid what he was about….. I rather be in the company of an Rev. Ike an Honest Thief than a Scandalous Saint!

Wow.
Rev. Ike was definitely a name I knew growing up. My grandmother constantly sent love offerings to this man in exchange for what seemed like thousands of small, red pieces of prayer cloths.
One offering for one square piece of prayer cloth.
Over the years she had so many she could almost make a skirt out of them.
Sure, Rev. Ike was fleecing, but my Mama didn't know that. Somehow as she walked around the house with those red, sheared-edged cotton pieces all pinned to her bra and apron, she was happy and sang about Jesus.
God, the memories....

I dd not like him at all and the sound of his voice, made me chilled.. My mom couldn't stand him. Wonder did he made peace with God during his last hour.

random thoughts......
did he transition somewhere BECAUSE he believed in the here and now, or because the word says "it is appointed unto men once to die and then the judgement?"
trying to understand how a person could say "This is so sad I can't stop crying....I never stop loving him and praying for him....You got me crying all over again" and on and on about Michael Jackson, and then say "honestyly, I don't feel bad about his death" about Ike Turner.
like i said, just randmon thoughts.............

This is a man who know God and the Power of God... who was enlightened and have tasted the heavenly gift and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit.... But choose knowingly to go the other way and take many that were seeking God with him... My spirit was greived from his message as a child, and I didn'tknow God. I knew he was off... The LOVE of money is the root of all evil... that is where he led ppl for decades, thousands who was seeking God. Michael Jackson was a kind hearted man who was constantly crying out for help. No one understood him, he went through serve child abuse and wanted to back his childhood that was taken from him. He never try to hurt and used anyone. He gave more than any celebraty I know.... He may not have lived a saved live and may or may not have die loss, he was a good person. Unlike Rev. Ike, he was a part of my childhood that I found joy.... I think it was love at first sight. When I got saved I prayed so hard for Mike, even though stop listening to his music and nolonger had any records or cds. He always had a place in my heart.

He died because the Bible says so......now where he will spend eternal life is another whole story....but of course I don't know whether her repented or what his whole salvation story is... But I know that Rev Ike's scientific religious doctrine does not supersede God's law that told Adam that the day in which he at that fruit that ye shall surely die
