Be honest....
What were some of the first things that came to mind when you read the title of the thread?

Had no expectations at all. Thought it would have been an article about a mother presently or formerly on welfare, about how difficult it is or about how she might have gotten off welfare or something like that.

Well, AT, I am not a welfare mom (not a mom, period)....
I asked this question for an assignment in my Human Services class however we don't get much participation on this board (outside of politics) so I combined Krazee's answer with a bunch of others that I received elsewhere.
Thanks for answering just the same, tho!

I waited five days for your attention lol... If you want to see participation on this site, write something crazy about Juanita Bynum and it get ppl from every where posting... even if the statement not true....
After welfare reform by President Clinton, all the generational welfare mom have been cut off... Now there are just a few who stay off for a couple of years than off... Welfare are really for children, not adult in most states... I heard NJ accept singles without children and and in IL & MN.... In Florida they go after the father of the child to pay child support first.... If the woman don't give the information about the father, they get nothing.... If the father in jail, she can get welfare, if the father disabled, she can collect social security... I have seen many young women with children living in section 8 apt, with no income or medical insurance.

I waited five days for your attention lol... Yes, unfortunately I am as guilty as everyone else (and maybe even moreso) when it comes to posting on this board. LOL, sad but true. Yes, I remember this and many people were upset and many were not. I am not one to believe that everyone abuses the system but I do not believe that one should be able to use the system as they do. I do believe there should be some guidelines in place, how strict should they be? Well, I believe that depends on the situation but I am on the fence with that as well.
