I just found out my very first Pastor passed... He used to Pastor Wells Cathedral COGIC, on High Street in Newark. NJ.... I remember when he first came to Wells Cathedral when I was a little girl. My heart goes out to Sister Owens and his children, He had been a part of my family as long as I can remember... Homegoing Celebration 3-13-11 on the anniversary of my mom death

As a former COGIC girl, I remember Bishop Owens. My condolences to all of those whose lives he touched.

Since I live in Georgia now, I had the privilege of attending the jurisdictional memorial service last Thursday night (had to work for the national service on that Friday though). The "silver-tongued orator" will certainly be missed.

I used to love his voice, lol Everytime he used to stop by my home, when I was a little kid, he full the house with his sweet cologne lol, and the sweet smell will stay for hours after he left. My mom refused to go to church, so he will give her a surprise visit... He used to be close to the family and my older sister used to be close to Sister Owens...
Sister Owens was given six weeks to live 40+ years ago, I remember seeing her during her last stage of cancer, she praise God so much that I didn't believe she was sick... God healed her and for years the doctors at the hospital celebrited the anniversity of her healing, each year.
My family went to the homegoing in Newark, NJ at Wells Catheral, I didn't go... They said it was like a reunion of the old church family and the ppl had church!
