Woman wins $315,000 after suffering a fall during church By Justin Rebello Staff writer
© 2007, Lawyers USA Judith Dadd had always been a deeply religious person, an active member of her Pentecostal church for twelve years. But when she fell and hit her head during a rally in 2002, she claimed she had been "slain in the Spirit of the Lord," and sued the church for failing to have an usher present to catch her. Last month, Dadd was awarded $315,000 by a Michigan jury for negligence and for slander after she approached the church to pay for her medical expenses... MORE

I'm honestly surprised we don't see more of this. I know preachers that will practically push you down when laying hands on you, or at the least will not stop praying for you until you're on the floor (that one is for you, Bishop Charles Mellette of Sanford, NC--stop it!).

And I actually have a family member who went up and a pastor was laying hands on her and she said "If you touch me that hard one more time, we're going to be fighting" ;D
If God want to knock you out, he will!

Whoa wait just one minute......churches are now going to be held responsible (monetarily) due to slaying folks in the spirit......

Who caused her to be slain in the Spirit or a spirit? Was it the pastor? the Holy Spirit? or was it another spirit that knock the ness out of her?

Actually, most churches have insurance for this....... I heard about this one story in Philly where a person sued a well known church because she said that she was shouting and she hurt herself....... the judge laughed at her. What she didn't know was that the judge actually had visited this church. He told her that she was lying because noone shouts at that church......
Back to this particular case you can get sued for just about anything.... bad advice, falling, "slain in the spirit", shouting, etc. What I will say is that I wouldn't be saying that I was "slain in the spirit" because if it was truly the spirit of God that "hit" you, you won't hurt yourself........ I remember being in church leading devotions and I fell out between the communion table and the organ (my head was literally within inches of both)..... I would never want to put God out there like that because she's basically saying that God let her hurt herself when he allowed her to feel a "heavier weight" of Him....

That church do have insurance, that why she was trying to get 1.16 million. I should have sue a prophet/chief apostle who hit so hard that he actually knocked me out and left a knock on my forehead. He wear a large diamond ring. He hit me with the back of the ring. I tried to run from the man and he till stepped over chairs, cought up and hit me!!!
