Sherman Allen Gets Spanked Thu May 10, 2007 at 02:52:38 PM Pastor Sherman Allen of Shiloh Institutional Church of God in Christ has been suspended from his pastoral duties. And not a moment too soon? The Church of God in Christ has suspended Fort Worth Pastor Sherman Allen "from all national and local pastoral roles and activities" within the denomination. The Church of God in Christ is the largest Pentecostal denomination in the United States, as well as the fourth-largest Christian church organization in the country, with some 6 million members. Unfair Park requested a statement from COGIC after hearing that Allen -- pastor of Shiloh Institutional Church of God in Christ, a prominent Pentecostal speaker and a frequent subject of Bible Girl columns -- had been suspended by COGIC's presiding bishop, Charles E. Blake of Los Angeles. This afternoon, Alayna Adams, spokeswoman for the Memphis-based COGIC, issued this statement on behalf of the Office of the Presiding Bishop: "The Church of God in Christ does not condone any inappropriate behavior from any of its representatives, and does not comment on pending litigation against the Church or its representatives until a case has been brought to trial and an official ruling has been made. Until then, Pastor Sherman Allen has been suspended from all national and local pastoral roles and activities within the Church of God in Christ. This is Church policy and we will honor this policy for the case against Allen." Allen has been sued by 33-year-old Davina Kelly of Fort Worth, a former member of Shiloh who claims Allen coerced her into a sexual relationship under the guise of counseling; repeatedly beat her with a wooden paddle as a form of spiritual chastisement, causing bruising and bleeding; and sexually assaulted her. Allen has denied all of the allegations in a court filing. Since the Kelly case was filed, several other women have made similar allegations. One of these women accused Allen of raping her anally and vaginally with a three-foot club in a 1983 case that resulted in a criminal charge of aggravated sexual abuse. The charge was later dropped; the woman claims it was because Allen threatened to do the same thing to her daughter, and she subsequently stopped cooperating with prosecutors. For earlier stories on the Allen case, see here, here and here. Is Allen complying with the suspension? That's an open question. Neither he nor his church are commenting, but several sources on this blog and elsewhere say that while Allen is no longer preaching -- he reportedly stopped in early April -- he is still laying hands on people for prayer and giving prophetic "words" during Shiloh church services. I guess it depends on how you interpret the phrase "all national and local pastoral roles and activities within the Church of God in Christ." Allen held a national role within the Church of God in Christ as a vice president of the denomination's International Department of Evangelism. He also spoke frequently in prominent COGIC churches, including Bishop Blake's West Angeles Church of God in Christ. --Julie Lyons blogs.dallasobserver.com/unfairpark/2007/05/sherman_allen_gets_spanked.php

Keep reading the blog; but to this date 35 women have come forth accusing Allen of abusing them.......
I will comment on this topic but i have to be very careful about my statements here as I am very close to this issue......
If you can remember on the old board I had asked a question about advising my husband on serving as a Groomsmen in a wedding that I was against because of allegations against my husband's friend.....
Well this is the preacher and the wedding that I was speaking of.....and they had a wedding......with several top leaders as groomsmen and bridesmaids......Jakes, Hines, Archbishop Ashe, Donnie McCLurkin, and the list goes on and on.....
Honey this story will make Bynum look like water..........the details are very graphic and not for the faint at heart.........

Among the MANY questions and issues I have with and about this mess I think my deepest and most heartfelt actually is: WHAT'S WRONG WITH THESE WOMEN??? What on earth would make them put up with this? Especially from what was supposed to be a man of GOD, and not to mention a man who I understand is "mosquitoesque" in stature. Exactly what kind of power is he wielding? I wonder if this kind of stuff will be included and addressed in JB's newly developed campaign... Isn't COGIC her home base? Well now, that's quite the collection there.... Allen is certainly "well-connected" as they say in the mafia and on the "Sopranos" hmmmmmmm..... And btw, T.D. Jakes makes me want to get a slingshot and five smooth stones... With his "No comment" having self... JB should have hit him with her shoe instead of presenting it to him in that particular conference's craziness. Woman thou art loosed, my donkey.... But i digress. Well sort of, lol!

Keita, the problem with these women and most people in the church is the "superior authority" that is given to leaders......
In COGIC as in most churches (even evident on this BB) that once a person starts "questioning" a preachers actions, words or comments then you are seen as troublemaker, one who bucks authority, and not a person of Christian values because you questioned the leader.......
JB roots are COGIC as well and she does know this man and his current wife very well....however in COGIC as a little girl we are taught to keep your mouth off the preacher again back to the "touch not mine anointed".........
Well in the case of Allen and some other folks I won't name "touch not mine anointed" also mean don't be having illicit sex with these "anointed" men and women of God.....of course no one wants to preach about that.......
Again, I have very strong feelings on whether or not it is correct to question or dialog about a preachers actions.....had these women would have been talking to someone about what Allen (5 foot 2) preacher was doing to them maybe someone would have told them this is not right.......
At home when I was younger there was a certain preacher who would have sex with the young girls because he felt that he had the power to clean them up.....he was a well known evangelist in our area and he would have sex with these girls based upon the OT story and scripture "when the prophet laid on top of the lad he came back to life" .........
I personally knew some of these girls and was in SS class with them every Sunday morning but no one brought up this preachers actions until a young girl came up pregnant and was telling folks that Jesus was her "baby's daddy." Of course these girls are now messed up and all because they were taught not to put your mouth on the preacher.....

I read his manifesto which was, imho, way too slow on the draw. I found his initial "No Comment" pathetic and cowardly. Especially with his supposed mantle and anointing for women. I know this thread really isn't about Jakes and I actually only brought him up because (for reasons I won't go into at this time) I was so unsurprised to find him popping up somewhere in the midst of this mess too. Brother does get around, lol.

I tell you this.. He's not the only one who needs to be sat down. Its a whole lot of em, and they are messing with little boys BUT thats another story in itself.
Now I would also ask whats wrong with these women. THere is no such thing as Superior Authority and to allow any man to do this is just plain silly.
Its a crying shame to TOO many women are too focused on trying to become the next bishops, pastors, elders wife and they would pratically do anything.
Now I have heard of this mans actions, and anybody who was apart of his church or jurisdiction should have wrote the bishop a LONG while ago. Now, I do recall Bishop Patterson's talk at the aim convention in Houston, tx and he addressed the "Men of GOd" messing with the women, and the little boys, I remember his words...Its a crying shame that this goes on in COGIC, where we are to be the examples of holiness.
I learned along time ago, that some of these jurisdictions are ran by wolves in sheeps clothing!

How those women allow the man of a god do those things to them?... witchcraft... and casing spells. He lay hand on them, prophesy to them and pray from them, under another anointing. They are open to be control by this bishop, he put them under a spell and able to do whatever he want. They probably fall into something like a trance, were they can feel, hear, but have no control of their body. A old friend of my was in a pastor office talking to him, he wanted more than a talk... she said as they was talking she felt something hit her, he said did you feel it? She immediately got up and went to her car, she said she had to fight to stay awake behind the wheel. She drove up to another church, to a pastor friend, and he had to case the spell off of her.
She was wrong for being at that man church, more than less being alone in his office... It not thefirst time he made a pass at her. The other pastor (her friend) was out of order, she married and he dating her:(
It is not just the C.O.G.I.C....

Sisters LANL, AT, Jas and ASWSOY:
Y'all are really giving me some good answers to my questions.
It's my understanding that Sherman Allen has been at this for something like 25 years. People, including leadership, had to know, right?
Sis ASWSOY:
I see and (feel) that stress you placed on the word "delivered".
What's up?

Just that the 5 years that I was in C.O.G.I.C. was not very good! It is only by the grace of God that I did not turn against church. It was the first church that I attended upon salvation and the experience was not a good one. The leader was full of lust, adultery, lying, cheating, controlling, manipulation. He also told his members that I was no longer allowed in his church. Some cannot even speak to me to this day.

People, including leadership, had to know, right? Keita, once I really start researching this man several things were brought to my attention… First is that Allen came from a spiritualist’s background and where one incident occurred this girl actually came into the store he was operating to by some products (candles, oils and etc….) and he went on to attack her…. The second thing that got me is how fast Allen moved to the top of COGIC…..I understand that he is a great speaker and he is very animated and brings a high energy level in his delivery….but aside from that I don’t think anyone did a background check on this man….they (including my husband) embraced this man and moved him right along because of the $$$$$$$$...... The last thing that really got me is: Who really knew what was going on with this man and why did they cover it for so long………
