I know that this may have been a discussion on the board some time ago. Yet, can anybody please explain where the term " we equally yoked " came from ? Or is it just another pick up line with scripture attached to it ?

2 Corinthians 6:14 (New King James Version) Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
Yoked - (verb) to be or become joined, linked, or united.
Yoked as in marriage. Sinners and unbelievers cannot dwell together in peace as husband and wife no matter how hard they try. This is why the bible is very clear about not being unequally yoked.
I lived this and believe me it is TRUE!!!!!

Okay..help us unmarried folk out..that much we understand. So, why would a man tell a woman that they were equally yoked..when the only thing they have is conversation ? Can you be unequally yoked with a believer ?

The scripture definitely brings clarification. Yet, there are men and women approaching others and telling them that they are "equally yoked"..from the stand point that because they are both Christians that they would would are "perfect" for one another. They have both believe in Christ, and their single..the list could go on. To the point where one maybe saying you would make a good wife or husband for me. I had never heard of it until approx a year ago..and with the every intend of their hearts being the will of God for them..they are taking it as far believing because that's the desire of their heart that God is going to give it them; even if the other party does feel that the same way. I understand about unbelieving spouses..I have a friend who has been married over 20 yrs..and her husband was a unbeliever for years. I know that there are warning signs and red flags out that those who are not yet married when it comes to beginning a relationship with someone who says " I am your wife and I am your husband".
