Just a few hours ago, I returned from a convention where a well-known preacher ministered. Sermon was very good, an encouraging word. After the sermon (and the "big shout"--yall know how we do), she asked the ushers to man the doors and mentioned how disrespectful she thought it was that folks get up and leave once the message was over, because the Holy Spirit may yet still be at work. I was thinking, "I can dig that." Then she proceeded to make a "seed offering" offerotory appeal--WITHOUT having made an altar call. And no one came behind her and made one either. Sadly, this isn't the first time I've seen this happen. My question is, when did money become more important than souls? Why is it that we can beg for more money (because the general offering was already raised), but not give anyone an opportunity to get right with God? Y'all this is disturbing, and I know I'm not the only one who's witnessed this. Now I know that all preachers don't operate like this, but I'm simply referring to the instances when this does occur. Seems as though something has gone VERY awry....

To answer your question, in some churches yes. It's usually between that or altar call lasting only 3 minutes versus a 2 hour offering.
Much has to do with the commercialism that has become very normal. Between that and trying to get people together as long as they don't talk "doctrine" has become popular....... it's the "in thing"

There has always been falsehood just as the truth will always prevail. Where i am based no-offerings have not replaced altar calls.
