The terms: gift of prophecy, the office of the Prophet, Word of prophecy are terms that I have read or heard about in books in regards to being different types of prophecies. My question is how are these terms differentiated in scripture? Or do they really all have to do with just "prophecy" as being defined as thus saith the Lord no matter what the form(at)?

Well let's see if I can help out on this one.
The gift of prophecy is the ability to supernaturally edify , exhort, comfort and encourage according to the leading of the Spirit. I mean anyone can encourage you in the lord but that doesnt mean it hits home to your situation right? The gift of Prophecy is different from just encouragement. It doesnt have to be a "deep" word though. Its simply a general inspiration of the Spirit to edify, and comfort through God's word and his leading. Everyone cant use the word or tell you something to encourage you in your situation, to make it better for you in your spirit that everything will work out alright. Prophecy is sort of like "a word of wisdom" it offers direction or wisdom concerning things in your life, when you might not be so sure of what God wants or what God is saying, or if you need a confirmation from the Lord of what God is already saying.
The office of a prophet entails a lot. This is basically someone functioning as a prophet. A prophet will ‘speak forth openly’ and is a proclaimer of a divine message, as opposed to the operation of prophecy, which is limited to edification, exhortation and comfort. They can also have a revelation, or a word of wisdom concerning future events in the nature Acts 11:27-28:. The word from a prophet concerning people may be judged by man, but a word about nature can only be determined to be genuine if it comes to pass but none of these words will contradict the original written Word of God though. Prophets also often reveal God’s judgments on people or nations, or reveal events that will happen in that nation. One sign of someone NOT being a prophet but trying to operate in the office of one is that ‘spiritualization’ of common knowledge. They spiritualize everything that happens in life...a forest fire becomes a word that God is calling for fire in America, a snow storm becomes a word that satan’s forces are being frozen...etc..lol. Every dream and impression (goose bumps..lol) is said to be prophetic. Over spiritualizing things is a clear sign something is wrong...and the person is reaching for something not there. Sometimes the pressure to perform is too strong and a person gives in to what People want.
A word of Prophecy is I guess sort of parellel to the gift of Prophecy. A word of prophecy is what will flow from the gift of prophecy , sort of like the word of wisdom and things like that.
I hoped that helped. I know its much deeper than that though, maybe someone else can elaborate more deeply. It all stems from the gifting of the Spirit of course.

The funny thing in the bible there are only 3 offices listed and that does not include prophet.
Those offices as seen in 1 Timothy 3 are Bishop, Deacon and Elder. The others like, teachers prophets, evangelist and so on the gifts (these people) that are given to the body for the perfecting of the Saints.

yeah you are right Grace. i guess that's where the different terminology comes in at. And actually the "office" of the prophet is just primarily the "functioning" of one who is called a prophet.
But we do like to say that, I guess it makes them seem like more important ppl in the Body
