Okay....question.....

Will God use sickness and pain to chastise us?

Some ppl have said that , God will use anything to get your attention, does that include sickness?

Now no one like to be sick and in pain, if nothing else will, that will get you to fall on your needs, and cry out to the Lord to save you. Or some acknowledge that they were not all that anyway, and the pride comes tumbling down.

So do ya think God will go there? The bible says I wish above all that you prosper and be in health even as thy soul prospers. Now for the man of God to say it, I believe that , its the will of God also.

But whats the answer,will God break me down (naturally), just to build me up (spiritually)?

In most cases, people actually become sick because of sin. Unforgiveness, bitterness, jealousy, affects relationships, which ultimately affects your health.

I believe the object would be to show the individual while in their sickness that HE is still God, and if he so desires He can heal them of any ailment. I believe that the rains fall on the just and unjust and we are not exempt from the storms of life.

I believe that ANYWAY God needs to get your attention, He's Sovereign. It will be got.

T'aint no need for God to get you now that Jesus already got the gotten for us! That was the reason for his stripes.

I agree with Jasmine that I don't believe God puts those things on us, but He is the only one that can make something good come from it. God is so awesome that He'll even warn us when something's ahead of us that we're about to face.

The point is, we've still got to go through; but not only go through, but TO. Our going through is our road TO something and on that road, our Heavenly Father laid healing, peace, strength, wisdom, whatever we need, along that path. The important thing is, we've got to travel it to receive it.

Stay on His road and you'll always get to where He wants you to go, and pick up along the way, all that He destined for you to receive.

Will God CAUSE sickness. No He wont. Will God ALLOW sickness. Yes He will.

Therein lies the difference.

So what about when sickness comes our way? Like terminal illnesses. And one prays for God to heal and he doesnt heal at first, but they suffer in their body tremendously. Is that God trying to get their attention? Or is that just the natural? I mean our bodies are deteriorating every day in a way, so is sickness just the result of sin, or also the natural break down process of the body?

Which is it? Because when ppl say just have faith and God will deliver, well what happens when you have faith and nothing happens? What determines a healing, just God's will?

But in the story of Job sickness was a tool, but i see that the devil brought that on, but God allowed it, just so that Job could come forth as pure gold.

So again does God allow sickness to come so that we can get a message? Or get back on the right path? Or so we can overcome and be blessed times over?

Short answer... nothing happens in this life that God doesn't allow. :-)

Even if He doesn't heal the individual right at that moment. He is still an on time God. He is still able to deliver even despite all the negative reports. If God has said this sickness is unto death, then turn around to the wall like Hezekiah, and Plead with the Lord for a Second chance. However if God has spoken thou shalt live and not die, then It doesn't matter what the doctors say...the individual will need to trust God, or yes they will miss out on their blessing. Many people in the church today are sick because they are holding unforgiveness in their heart. Something has happened and they won't forgive that individual who wronged them. The individual could have apologize, or maybe they didn't but when unforgiveness sets up..it turns into bitterness. Bitterness and unforgiveness has been linked to cancer. If we harbor these types of feelings in our body..It does react. I was so mad at my husband one time, and I can specifically remember where I told myself dont say anything, don't speak, don't cry. Today your emotions are non-existant. I didn't take it God, and for 2 weeks I did not talk, speak or even touch my husband. At the same time my body was reacting. I was throwing up, I had knots all through my body, I had no strength. I finally stop allowing the enemy to have his way and went into my closet and cried about before God. You talking about a wailing woman. Man. if someone could hear they would have thought someone was trying to kill me. But the important thing was I got it out, and I let it go. I apologized to my husband for acting the way I did. He understood. He don't know me better than God, but he knows me better than anybody else.

Even if He doesn't do anything else, He is still faithful, He's still worthy. He's already done more than enough. Right? God's desire is that we all be in Good health and proper as our soul prospers. We also have to understand that things we did while we were yet sinners still have consequenses. People who have smoke 10-20 years before they came to Christ, may still have to deal with the consequenses of smoking. Shortness of Breath, deteriorating lung, coughing and etc. Doesn't mean that God can't and won't heal, but these are consequenses of our own sin.

It could be all. Sometimes He allows sickness because maybe the individual was too busy to heed to God's still small voice. In allowing the enemy to afflict the person's body, mobilization is sometimes limited. The individual can now stop and hear God, the individual can now take time to pray, the individual can now exercise faith, trust and hope in God. Not relying on themselves any longer, but drawing nigh to God. Sometimes he allows sickeness because we have allow sin to remain in the camp. The wages of sin is death, and Jesus paid it all on the cross, but when we continually and willfully sin, we put the cross to shame. 99% of the time affliction will put you back on you knees. Lastly, there are many times where for no reason the Lord allows sickness to come upon a person, for a testimony of how the Lord showed up and showed out. Now God's Glory will be made manifest in ALL, however there are many times where the affliction is just a test, you know he's going to bring you out, You know that in going through, it will help the next individual to stand on the promises of God.

God allows things to come upon us. God allows things to hit us like freight trains, but always trust and know this it will work out for the Good of them, who Love Him.

Even in death. God won't take you out of here before its your time. and with "time" we never know the day or the hour so we should always know that without a doubt, If i die in this I am on my way to Glory.

I concur with Nikkol.

And I also think that here we may need to distinguish between believers and unbelievers. We have a covenant with God, whereas unbelievers do not. Also, I do read in the Bible of a God who indeed causes sicknesses; I think this is where the distinction is helpful.
