With the year coming to an end, I got to thinking...
On Watch Night of 2003 and in 2004 we heard things like: "God Will Do More In 2004".
In 2005 it went something like: "Come Alive In 2005".
What's going to come forth from the pulpits for 2006?
"God's Got Trix For 2006"?
What's with these raps and rhymes? It seems Christians are being fleeced with these phrases and that the new revelation of "this new word for this time" can't come forth unless it rhymes.
Do you really believe these things are coming from God? {shakes head, scratches chin}

Doesn't really have to come from God, but can be an inspiration to people who have had nothing but confusion and drama in the year. It kinda gives the individual a sense of direction and purpose for the year to come.

Class of 95' themee was "Staying alive in 95"
The purpose of that theme, was the make individuals more aware of their choices. Overall make every attempt that you can to stay alive in 95. Teenagers were dying left and right, from gangs, drugs, drunk drivers, and just plain negligence.
I believe that churches/pastors use those themes to bring awareness to the congregation..with the overall message being: GOD IS BIGGER THAN YOU SITUATION.
If I had a theme for the body of Christ in 2006... It woudn't rhyme, it would simply say
LET IT GO!!!!

Ybrown, I know you didn't hear from God because the theme for next year is "It's Fixed in 2006" (just like it was in '96). ;D

Apparently not, KB. ;D But the It's Fixed in 2006 just may be making its rounds again. If not, then how about: In The Mix in 2006 or Get Your Kicks in 2006. I got a bunch of 'em.

^LOL!
I'm not trying to "diss" anyone who has stated that he/she has heard from God concerning a particular theme for a calendar year, but why do we feel the need to lock God into a 365-day box? God operates according to times and seasons, not Gregorian calendars. I give props to our former presiding bishop, when one year he didn't come up with a new theme but kept the one from the previous year because He said God wasn't finished yet.

Our theme has remained the same also, since I arrived at the church in sept of 2004, the theme still hangs on the wall.. The pastor points up to it when people testify, or the atmosphere begins to change..He says " Whatever you need"
"Its DONE"..<~~ thats the theme.
