A lot depends on the ministry. There are people that don't mind showing pay stubs etc.... it doesn't necessarily have to be bondage; not everyone will be upset etc. if they do have to show it..... but there's typically always a church that one can be a part of that gives them the "balance" that they want.

I don't think it is ever "right" to ask someone to show their paystub to determine if they are paying the correct amount in tithes. Tithing is between the giver and God.

ASWSOY now I will say Amen to that. That is never the Pastors job , the elders , the deacons or no one to check up on someone to see if they are giving or tithing for that fact. Because if God is building the ministry he will supply, he dont need to rob, milk, or beat folks down to give so that the church can survive, he can send someone there that's a millionaire and not even coming to attend the service and say God told me to sow $$$$$ to this ministry, and BAM!! there ya have it, Ive known it to be done like that. Who can beat God's giving?? So I think to take those measures of getting your pay check stubs and all that are just too drastic, and too up close and personal, all up in folks personal lives.
I mean you do that to purchase a house , or car, or to get an apt. or something, but for the house of God??? I think the so called "church" world has become to "secular".
Its the simple things of God that mean a whole lot. "The simplicity of the word" we overlook that sometimes when it really can make a difference.

Many current pastors are oppressive yoke adding folk to whom the word 'freedom in Christ' sounds like a nuclear weapon.
