I have been wondering since the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. How come no one sounded the alarm that destruction was coming upon our land ? Just recently we have begun to hear that many reknown prophetic voices in our country are beginning about the the destructions that happened in New York and Louisana. It puzzles because many declare and proclaim boldly and loudly that they are Prophets; yet, no has sounded the alarm that we would turn. I strongly believe that many prophetics words we have heard and received where not the true words of the Lord; yet, the desires within the hearts of men and women to gain favor with the Lord. Yet, I have yet to hear that America must turn back to the Lord; many of us will agree that Hurricane Katrina was to cleanse that area. Yet, I often ponder on this passage of scripture found in Amos 8:11 -12.
Behold days are coming, declares the Lord God. When I will send a famine on the land, not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, But rather for hearing the words of the Lord. People will stagger from sea to sea And from the north even to the east; They will go to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, But they will not find it.
With all of that said is not the word of true; is God a not man that he should lie when we ponder on this scripture:
Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord God does nothing. Unless He reveals His secret counsel To His Servant the prophets.

Good question, stillfocused!
It is my belief that God has many prophets out there and not just our "celebrity prophets" and because this is my belief, I also believe that someone did "sound the trumpet" and warn those of the coming danger.
Unfortunatly, unless you are well known, many will not receive what you are saying or if the "word" isn't appealing to the flesh, many do not want to hear it. I just really believe in my heart that with all the people God has called to "proclaim" His word that someone, somewhere did so.

Agreed upon. Yet, after this tragedy I have listened to many say that they told others and it behooves that if that were so. How come none of those who were told said a word ? Understandable that people do not receive you if you are not Prophet SoandSo and ThusandSo. Yet, my question is those who frequent this board who have been called to the office of A Prophet, have a prophetic ministry operating in their lives, and proclaim or don't proclaim to be a Prophet is it possible that because of the cares of the world, busyness, and disobedience that many did not rise up ? Kim Clement states he told President Bush about this and that there 2 more destructions left to come during his Presidency. I many times wonder how come the command the Lord gave to Ezekiel was not followed ? And with that whose hand is blood of those who did not hear because they were not warned on ? The passage scripture mentioned above is listed below.
Ezekiel 33:7 - 12
7"Now as for you, son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel; so you will hear a message from My mouth and give them warning from Me.
8"When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require from your hand.
9"But if you on your part warn a wicked man to turn from his way and he does not turn from his way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your life.
10"Now as for you, son of man, say to the house of Israel, 'Thus you have spoken, saying, "Surely our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and we are rotting away in them; how then can we survive?"'
11"Say to them, 'As I live!' declares the Lord GOD, 'I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live Turn back, turn back from your evil ways! Why then will you die, O house of Israel?'
12"And you, son of man, say to your fellow citizens, 'The righteousness of a righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his transgression, and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he will not stumble because of it in the day when he turns from his wickedness; whereas a righteous man will not be able to live by his righteousness on the day when he commits sin.'

Thanks, sis! The way God is speaking, it just seemed unwise for me to assume.
Let me first share these words from a brother who I believe has some wisdom on the questions you're raising:
"Now hear this you unbelieving pastors that have never seen The LORD in a vision, dream or HIS Glorified manifestations, neither have you heard HIS voice; The LORD prophesied of the storm of August 29, 2005, that Americans call hurricane Katrina. And this was prophesied through the mouths of cast-out believers whom you refused and to whom you said The LORD did not send them to you. And the LORD forewarned them to leave the Cities and areas affected by the storms months before the 29th August 2005, and they all obeyed and have since left to new areas where at least for now it is safe for them to proclaim the gospel of JESUS to the saving of precious souls, until further direction is given by The LORD as to where they have to flee to. As Peter, Paul and the early Christians were persecuted and driven from city to city so we are instructed to live our lives today, thus saith The HOLY SPIRIT.
Make sure you find out what The LORD is saying to the "Body of Christ" by humbling yourself in asking the true messengers of our LORD who mostly communicate amongst ourselves on the internet websites. Be aware of copy cats, such as psychics, soothsayers, magicians, astrologers, tarot readers who amount to about 98% of the prophecies on the internet. I have seen even Moslems from the middle east and those in America quoting the same prophecies that our LORD JESUS CHRIST has given to HIS prophets and prophetesses of today. But I would say if you know the Bible and the commandments of our LORD, you will never be deceived. Know that if satan have access into your church buildings on the Sabbath days and on Sundays, do not marvel that the devils are also at work on the internet. So do not let these little tricks of the devils prevent you from searching for the truth.
Also know that The LORD have shown many of HIS servants that destruction is coming this year 2005 to Florida and Atlanta, and equally all the coastal cities of the United States. So it will be wise to move out of these areas, except that The LORD station you in one of those places then you have to obey the LORD who will have HIS protecting hand over you..."

Now I don't want to put a "damper" on this thread, but is it possible that we MAY be overspiritualizing just a bit? I say that because we know when hurricane season is--comes the same time every year. If a hurricane is in the Gulf, it has the potential to strike anywhere from Pensacola to Galveston. Furthermore, with all of our technological advances in meteorology, we are able to give warning of coming storms of this nature well in advance. Now that's not to say that such technological devices are 100% accurate, as many meteorologists will admit that these weather systems (storms) often have "minds of their own." Also, I'm not bringing the social aspect into this discussion (PLEASE keep this in mind). But all things considered, it works like this:
1) Storm is in the vicinity 2) GET OUT!
It doesn't take a prophet (in the case of hurricanes, at least), only The Weather Channel. Of course, I'm not disregarding the role of prophets in God's new covenant economy, as they are vitally important, but sometimes, things aren't really "that" spiritual.

Hmmmm.......Krazeee.... you done did it again.....lol
Nah, but for real though he has a point, this is something that very well could have been a "natural disaster" and we know why the earth is in chaos to produce such storms that destroy and end in tragedy and all, sin is yet in the earth, and even the elements of the air have been affected. Everything is out of order and its just gonna get worse. But ppl are putting a spiritual signifigance on the storm and what happened. I will say I am not sure if this was a "judgement call" or a "warning" , or a "wake up call" for the church to show love and provide for the needy. Or was it just natural?
WE live and we learn, we take life as it is one day at a time. But it does say in Amo 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

The very interesting thing was prophets did tell that disaster was going to hit, matter of fact a pastor of a church in Atlanta a few days after theTsunami stated on Televison that that same kind of destruction would come to th United states and that it would be coming soon. Now maybe because he was not world reknowned people didn't believe him, but their are prophets who are speaking it. The question is are we listening?

Exactly. The problem is in several areas. First and foremost many prophets are not on a national stage so everyone does not hear that particular Word of the Lord. Secondly many people arent listening to prophets of God. Thirdly God revealing something to prophets and the prophets having the liscence to DECLARE are two different things.
And the other reality is many times when prophets do declare what is transipiring we foo foo it.
