All these new styles of worship based on some Old style custom, is really funny to me. I have seen these acts during worship service, I am not for it or against it..........The banners were pretty but it didn't really do anything for me. I have experiences the presence of God more at home by myself washing dishes than sharing in that experience At some churches we now have Banner / Flag Worship leaders and that's just what we need more titles to add to the church....

I just think it is a personal thing-we dont use them at church but people are free to bring them in and dance.
I do that sometimes myself-in africa we tend to wave our handkerchiefs during praise but it is not a tradition just how we express ourselves.
But it is biblical though -Ancient Israel always did it.

Ditto. I have however, been caught downwind of a sista with her banner/flag and it was mighty drafty. For me the gail-like winds distracted my own worship. Okay not quite that windy but you get my point.

Worship in the car stuck in traffic is pretty awesome too!

Okay not quite that windy but you get my point. ROTFL! I like the way it's done over Beulah's way--that is, it isn't "institutionalized," but rather sporadic. The way it's done in most churches now, it really comes across as more entertaining in nature (see the movie "The Gospel").

So does anyone care to do a study on this? How banner/flag worship came about?
I know that the COI (Children of Israel) presented a wave offering to the Lord of the first grain.
I know banners were used in warfare. Since some of us equate worship with warfare is this why we say banners are needed in our worship?
