Good questions, Jasmine.
What we must realize is that what WE want to do and what God would have us to do at a given time and place may not be the same. Our desire should be that which God would have us to do.
What is also just as important is that we find ourselves doing what God has us to do but also that we are not doing something and He hasn't told us to do it. This only brings frustration to the individual and the ministry. It may be a good thing but is it a God thing for you?

Now stillfocused I don't want to appear as If I am picking on you, but there are many people who sit around and do nothing, and they have been apart of ministries for centuries. The excuse they use is, they never asked me to do anything. Now I am a firm believer in the scripture that whatever your hands find to do,do it with all your might. Alot of people want to start off in leadership positions, but thats not necessarily where they need to begin. I was the administrative secretary at my previous church for 6 years and I wanted to quit everyday..lol. It was always something new, always something about dealing with saints, but it was apart of my making process. While I was an administrative secretary I learned things just from working in that position, which positioned me to work in the corporate world. Now At my new church, they already have a person doing that, so I don't look to do it, but once our church building process is complete, she wants me to work in the administrative office with her. I have no problem with that, because I know that it is a ministry that God has given to me. I can't force God to make room for me in that area, its all in his timing. God has me working in the corporate world, dealing with those same type of "individuals" yet this time they folks in the world, who do what they do because they don't know any better. Again its all apart of my making process, and if I can't effectively deal with people in the world, why dare I try to deal with them in the church. Now I don't just sit and not do anything. I am a worship leader/ choir leader and these are ministries that I am active and faithful to. I agree everything is not for everybody, and you want to make sure that whatever you are doing, that God directed you to do it. But alot of things I see with people is, they are waiting for God to make them "head" over some department, and if you cannot 1st serve, then you won't succeed as the head of anything.

Short version.. Get in where you fit in... I know I am called to preach and to prophesy the Word of God. When God sent me to my current church He told me that I would be in the Ministry of Helps. I asked.. whats that Lord.. He said.. Where there is help needed.. you show up.. And thats what I did for years.. showed up.. ready willing and able to help. Several years later I was made one of the first deacons in our church. The Lord has used me ( as well as the other deacons ) to minister the Word of God on occasion. God is preparing me for what HE has for me... But I still am in the Ministry of Helps.. Sister Blue Shoes needs help moving into her new apartment.. Show up... Brother Black Shirt needs a lock installed... show up... Sister Red Dress sons bike needs to be fixed.. show up... Church needs to be swept... show up... Need to clean out the storage room... show up... We need to stop waiting to be used and make ourselves useful. Like John P Kee said.. SHOW UP !!!

I guess I want to know whats so important about working in the Jurisdictions? Again, whats so great with being over or in leadership positions in your jurisdiction? Cogic is very adamant about being faithful to your local assempbly, and upon a pastor's recommendation they will consider you for positions on the local jurisdiction. To answer your questions, I really don't know what's so great about working in Jurisdictions because it is really IMO a lot of Church work and you need a second job to carry out the expenses of working in the Jurisdiction..... the church is sort of set up like a multi level marketing {Pyramid} business (scheme): Local (title) work, district (title) work, jurisdiction / state (title) work and then the Granddaddy of them all NATIONAL (title) Work oowee..... oh well, I digress....... In respond to the question, most people want to be in leadership and do not understand that good leadership is only good followship.... As GDD say what ever your hands find to do; just do it!!!!!!!

To answer Jasmine's question..I did not nothing !!! As there were only 3 ministry areas to work in; and the others well..it like you had to have an invitation. There was no choir, and it was made there would never one; the children's ministry was just babysitting, you didn't make the praise and worship team unless you were close to certain people, everybody was a greeter..I did clean the ladies room after services; because the person over that area could not find anyone who wanted to do it. Had no problems doing it; it's just that many are dying spiritually because there is no place for their gifts.

Giants..good response..believe it or not. I was there..Saturday night prayer..I was there. I wasn't waiting on anyone to do anything. In most cases you were placed where you were needed; whether you were good at it or not. Many others came in; and right away plugged in; yet, there were those like myself who had to prove themselves. Basically, it boiled down to money. There was a creative arts ministry started; yet, even many who signed up for it and wanted to participate didn't know what was going on; until Sunday morning and you walked in found that the drama ministry was doing a presentation. Giants..brought up a good point..get in where you fit. And coming out of ministry into a new city and state; I already knew that being a greeter was not for me; it's just so many people are doing the work of the kingdom in areas where God did not place them.
