I wanted to post this because I was on another Christian site and this brother posted this topic but his response has nothing to do with his topic.
He is asking why would God punish his chosen people because of Pharaoh's mistakes. He feel that God is an evil God and that He didn't have to punish everyone in the old testament if God suppose to be loving God that he say He is.
there are some of us have explain that he was missing the point of why things happen the way they did but he refuse to listen. I am on here asking what else can I do to help this brother because he is so lost and I have detected that he is angry with God. So can I get some advice

I'm not understand how/when God punished Israel because of Pharoah's mistakes. Exactly what is being alluded to here?
And I've come to realize that we don't have a clue as to what "love" really is, biblically speaking.

Yes, because it is rather sad. We have an entire society that has embraced a false notion of "love," and it has crept into the church. As a result, we have emotional theology that casts logic and reason (God-given endowments) to the wind--all because we have failed to not become conformed to this world and renew our minds, thus proving the will of God.

So Keita.....tell me your point of view on what happen with the children of Israel. Do you think that God punish people because he loves them? Correct me if I am wrong....was it not because Pharoh disobedience? What does the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit have to do with Pharoh and the children that was held bondage in Eypgt? I am going to try to copy from this other site so you can see what he is saying. you made not see any of my responses because he has deleted the things that I was trying to share with him. But I will see if I can

What kind of god would do this to their people (unless god doesn't count Africans/Egyptians as people). Murdering all first-borns? Most of the Egyptians were probably living in poor conditions and hating the Pharoah for their plight. Why not simply kill the pharoah, or appear before him and convince him otherwise?
And those of you who say that "it's just a tale, meant to show god's wrath, or how hard it was for the jews to escape from Egypt", then why not throw the rest of the bible out too? Who are we to pick and choose from god's holy words?
I've always been realist, but I had never heard of the 10 plagues in such detail, I figured it was exagerated or something. When I read them I was in shock that people could respect and worship such a being, let alone use that tale as a moral guide to living life.

There is one thing that you are missing my friend and that is DISOBEDIENCE. Out through the whole Bible because of the people disobedience they had to pay the price. Don't make it sound like that God shatches His love away from His people. We were created to make our own chose, having our own free will. Just like what's going on today we have that freedom to choose life or death. Whether we want to live the rest of our life with Him or live the rest of our lives in eternal d**nation.
Read more and ask God to help you to understand what is happen just don't read the verse and take it as if God is in the wrong.....Not So!!!!
Why do you think that the Children of Israel wonder in the wilderness for 40yrs when only it would of took them I believe the bible says 10 days to get from point A to B. God destroy the earth with water becasue of disobedience. People lost their lives because of other people disobenience. We can talk about this.

If you read the story correctly (which it looks like you didn't)...it wasn't God who killed the firstborn..it was the Pharaoh who refused to let the people go

If I may could I ask this ?........If you read the book of Exodus then why ask the question why God will do what he did to these people if He is a loving and caring God that he is. Please I am not being smart mouthed but only concern of what concern you. Because it is plain and written why these people were punished.

And you made another erroneous comment.....God never has to appear before man to convince him of anything. If that were the case, He wouldnt be God. No, in fact, it was God who hardened the heart of Pharoah. So why would God then turn around and "convince" him to let His people go? I believe before you can understand this story (or any other Biblical account) you have to be saved. The real question is who is Jesus to you?

Yes, i did read the entire bible.......... In the book of exodus, it is written that God hardens pharaoh heart, so that he could then punish Pharaoh and his people for doing things they were powerless to resist. Or in other words, god looks even worse than my topic makes him out to be. Check out Exodus yourself.
Well, even some Christians admit the God of the Old Testament is evil. I certainly believe it. Personally, I would rather worship anything good, other than sick!

God doesn't care about the African/Egyptians, he is a tribal god, the god of the Israelites.
The Old Testament is the story of a God and his Chosen People. That god doesn't deny the existence of other gods, he simply claims to be mightier than them. And he will show no mercy to those who bow down to them. He is definately not a loving God because if he had not allow his chosen peeps to be taken into bondange, we would not be in debate on this here issue!

I think that you are missing the whole point....and now I see that you are angry with God and for what reason I don't know. But I will tell you this instead of looking at it in a carner mind state try looking at it with a spiritual mind and you would understand why things happen the way they do.
And another point......I am a woman not a man. I don't know if you are a new creature in Christ but I do know that you have a lot to learn about who God is and why He does the things that He does. No....let me put it to you this way WE DO THINGS TO OURSELF AND WE ARE QUICK TO BLAME GOD FOR IT. And to say that a lot of people think that God was evil wake up my friend and smell the coffee you are no different then the rest you are trapped and lost just like the rest of them. I am not here to debate but only to agree to disagree and to help those who misquote the scripture as they see it not as God see it. Learn to put self aside and see what God is saying not man.

You have attack everyone on this broad who is trying to direct you in the right direction and you refuse to see the point. we have all said (with the exception of you) the samething to you and you are not hearing it. The bible says to be quick to hear and slow to speak (paraphase). YOU ARE NOT HEARING US. And you have said a couple of times that you have read the whole bible....My friend that is all you've done was just read it. Not asking the Holy Spirit for any guidiness or direction so naturally yours throughts are going to be your throughts. Your mind is not open at all you have a rebellious heart. I'm glad you found it humorous, but I was being real. I only responded to your comment, which by the way has NOTHING to do with the topic. The question remains: Who is Jesus to you? You responded to my post, but conveniently avoided that question. Your answer to that question will make all the difference in your interpretation of scripture (or lack thereof); and it makes a difference in how a believer responds to you.

When you read where it talks about "hardening" Pharoahs heart...this is akin to "hard headiness." Pharoah was told each time by Moses, let my people go, and after relenting each time, he would change his mind (hard headed)......Pharoah being "hardened" speaks of his responses to the God of the Hebrews

Disagreeing with her has nothing to do with the plagues. Those things were brought on by disobedience to G-d...not a man.

I will put it like this. I have not read all the postings but God lets everything happen for a reason. God is a just God. And in order for him to judge justly he has to let sin take its course in everyone. He cannot stop things from happening or people will say that he was unjust.

So Keita.....tell me your point of view on what happen with the children of Israel. Do you think that God punish people because he loves them? Correct me if I am wrong....was it not because Pharoh disobedience? What does the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit have to do with Pharoh and the children that was held bondage in Eypgt? Krazeeboi........I have share this with him and he has deleted it. I was trying along with others was letting him know that it is nothing how he read it. We kept telling him to read it again to see what was going on and to ask God to help him to understand and he refuse to. He is very rebellious and this borthers me because I can not understand why he thinks that God is evil. He has said that alot of people think that God is a evil God and that's why God has does the things that he do.

He owes nobody nothing. Those of us who have been favored to receive grace let us hubly receive it and work our salvations out with fear and trembling instead of worrying about logic and fairness.
