Wasn't sure where to put this because it can fall into so many different categories. Some things I thought we could discuss is your own personal church hurt or the hurt that you've seen others going through. Or just what exactly is vs. what is not "church hurt"......

Church hurt is when I walk into a church and trip going up or down the steps and hurt some part of my body... It happens to me just about every week...

hmm. well Church hurt is REAL however people tend to use it as an excuse to Run from God, or to stop attending a Local assembly.
I believe that the term church hurt simply means that someone in the houshold of faith, has hurt or offended another in the household of faith.
Is everything church hurt, I can't or don't feel that I am in a position to say that "everything" is, but some things are just misunderstandings that can be dealt with if both individuals involved would....be grown ups about the misunderstandings.

I read an article once regarding church hurt, and there were 4 things that I remember about that article.
1. People place unreasonable expectations on the church and when the expectations are not met..they are hurt/offended
2. People place too much TRUST in people. God has already stated that man will fail you, so why should we think God was lying and they won't?
3. People expect a church to be perfect, but if you claim to "not be perfect" then why would you go jack up the "perfect church".
4. People seek to promote their ownself, and their agendas, and when they fall flat on the face, they say things like "the church isn't letting them operate in their gifts"..Gifts make room, they don't bogard.
5. People don't have teachable or cooperative attitude. Which causes alot of "hurt" in the church.
6. People tend to view everything thats preached...is about them. LOL I remember the saying " If the shoe fits, then wear it". Some folks who look at things like this are ALWAYS offended.
I will try to find that article, it was very good and giving points on how to safe guard yourself from being Hurt in the church.

You said it right there sis jasmine. ohhhhhh my goodness Ive been hurt by church folks so many times and there was several times I wanted to leave the church, but something inside me wouldn't let me do it. I have come too far and God as brought me through way to much for me to leave the Church and God.....Its amazing church folks can be the most evil people you would ever meet. |
