It’s amazing how things turn round. Don’t I recall this thread somewhere else? And yes, I must say that BLACK’s are their own worst enemies. I recall the earlier post, where someone said you may be white but without Jesus you are a candidate for hell. You may be black too, but without Jesus you too re destined to die and fly into hell. For too long Black people have leveraged their failure on the white people. That is a fallacy. It is not true and cannot hold any water. When a BLACK child tries hard at school what happens he is ridiculed by his BLACK peers. Because this is what we taught them. Do we church our children? Yes we do, but churching them is not the solution, we need to help them find Jesus.
Honestly I am tired of this blame that has been going round for centuries. And when a BLACK man speaks the truth or his mind a barrage of attacks are aimed at him and belittle every last thing that he had said!
I am and advocate for empowerment of the women, particularly when the men are hangin’ out and doing nothing but bringing forth children into this world. I am tired of hearing what could have been done. I am tired of hearing the wrongs that have been committed. It is time to change history. I refuse to be part of a history that cannot be reversed. Livinanewlife has brought a very powerful dimension. Why don’t we change the history?
I will echo misskaylander and say, now that we know can we do something different? Can we educate and support our children the right way? Can we support our mothers and fathers? Can we support each other? Can we concentrate in building an economy that can support more people? Can we help get our children to get a good education and have less of them being watched in a football field? (and I love football but don’t you see the irony here?)
The first thing is knowing where you are. The second is deciding where you want to be. The third and most important is deciding what to do to get where you want to be. I ech all the BLACK mothers, who have held families together when men walked away. Who decided for their children when there was no one to turn to. Who made mistakes as they tried their best to support their children. My challenge…Families must be strengthened first. That is a very strong foundation for any church. Through this, children will get the right education, the right church, the right direction the right jobs. But there has to be the first step. Who takes it???

There's actually an article in reference to what has occurred.... I don't remember all but this is what I remember:
There was a time when factory jobs were popular. The money wasn't that bad and men didn't need to finish school in order to take care of the family. Men (esp. black men) were seen as strong and could handle that type of work very well. However, as time progressed, women were promoted to get an education, etc, not men. After a while, there were really no industrial jobs, which many of the black men were somewhat "trained" to do. But women were getting some schooling to do other things (secretary, etc) So, now you don't have industrial jobs but sports. So once again, most of the black men "goal" is to play sports. This is being ingrained even by the fact that if a boy decides to go out for a sports team, everyone tends to be happy and come out to support... you take the same child and say that they are going out for FBLA or Honor Society, many don't seem to care. On top of that, say you have a child that wants to be in sports but isn't able to really do it and/or do it well.......... what does that child do? How does that child feel?
Education really is the key but it would call for many to change priorities........

education is great, but what happens when you can't get grants or funding? But some of you have some of the same thought processes as others that constantly spew negative information all over. I don't know how many of you have been frustrated by the means afforded to attend college... it ain't easy for some folks as we would like to imagine. All black men are not into sports ane even some involved in sports pursue degrees not related to sports... Every black man doesn't play basketball or football... every black man is not on the corner and making babies.... what you watch on tv and read in the paper has clouded some of our perceptions, but in reality... isn't that what you (general) have been programmed to think??? Yes, we have a big problem in that we fail to support the system that kept us out the system.....

I don't know who said this quote "originally" but this is the subliminal RACISM that is being projected everyday and I am pretty much FEED up with it. Why is it that a "white" person without Jesus is a CANDIDATE for hell but a "black" person without Jesus is destined to die and fly into hell. If black people keep repeating crazy quotes like this we are YET failing ourselves. (head shaking mm mmm mmmph lawd ha mercy) So judgement is going to be segregated too

You know i haven't responded to this thread for various reasons. I normally wasn't the "militant" sister, and a long time ago i would have told african americans to stop crying and get up from your stooper. Today I still will suggest those same things, but have grown to know that racism is alive and thriving, the spiritual wickeness in highplaces is very much governing the state/condition of african americans. It really rips and burns me that we accept so much "garbage" from other individuals.
Do we really ever wonder why we have failed ourselves....because everything that other races or individuals do not LIKE about african americans, we try to succomb to that. Examples: Oh they don't like us because our lips are too big, our hair is too nappy, so we try to CHANGE what GOD has created to be UNIQUE and appease others.
Blacks fail themselves everyday, by accepting NEGATIVE comments, stereotypes, and all manner of evil that is presented to them. We fail ourselves, because we have lost our Identity and we really dont know WHO or WHO's we are.
Yes, im tired of all the complaints that we make to appease our situations, Im tired how we have turned from GOD, and turned towards drugs, achohol longing to be accepted by "america".
It's been time for the saints to turn back towards prayer praying for our people, we attend church in black communities that are literally DYING, yet what are we doing about it. We are building 10, 000 square foot facilities, yet our people are still DYING.
God help us! When we will learn? We have no concept of family and what a true family is. We fail ourselves and our people because ultimately... Black people are ashamed of our race.

Oh Jas your words stirred my soul. My my my my!!!
I (used to be radical) and I am still concerned about the plight of my people, but I see organizations failing us.
Organized Religion (false identities and a false concept of God and the evil that is before us)
Fraternal Organization (fails us because we get a false sense of acceptance and the FALSE perception of having "made it" because I am a member of this elite group therefore promoting Classicism among ourselves)
Organize Education (John Dewey and the Progressive Education system was created to measure children based upon testing that and materials that were critically bias. And today's teachers are educated in colleges by the Dewey Education system as the standard guide to earn a degree in education)
Institutionalization of our Children: From infancy children are being warehoused and learning a method of institutionalization that is preparing them for the prison...........
That's is all for now, I'll get off my soapbox

Alright Jasmine, now that is what I am talking about!
Be positive, things are going to change. You can make it. It is not that bad after all. Life is not that bad, yes education may be expensive but you can make it. It may be challenging out there to get a job but you now if there is anyoine who is going get a job today its gonna be me! If God is gonna bless somebody, that's gonna be me. There is light at the end of the tunnel. It's never going to be worse than it is right now.
There is a better day coming!
And before I forget, God did not create you for failure. refuse to be a failure. Refuse to be downcast.
He created you for a better life than this and that is why he created us in his own image! We are in the image of God, we are not survivors, we are more than Conquerers...
blessings

When black men decided it was ok to father children and not care for them. When black women decided it was normal to be baby momma's but not wives. When black men decided to allow other races view of the black woman become his view of the black woman. Even to allow himself to be at the forefront of negative images of black women . When black men said it was ok to refer to black women as @#$%&^% and ho's. When black women said that it was acceptable and starting appearing in videos depicting us as such . When lil black boys and girls are allowed to grow up listening to all kinds of crazy music. Do any and all kinds of dancing. Talk back to grown ups and drop out of School. When getting your hair and nails done come before paying rent. When getting rims on your car and a new stereo system are more important than paying child support. When you are laid up with a man who already has multiple children and you have one with him then start complaining that he is a no good father When black men decide that their 7 year old sons are to old to show affection to . Because showing to much affection makes him a punk . When our women tell our men how we don't need them. When getting the hook up is more important than being honest. When Sunday morning is for sleeping late and or going to work to get over time pay instead of going to worship the Lord is acceptable. When you would rather lay on your butt all day instead of getting a job and providing for your family. When a black man thinks it's ok for the women to be the only one working in the family. When blacks can't be happy for other blacks when they get the "come up". I could go on and on. But I will stop here....... Ignorance, lack of knowledge, Jealousy, Not accepting responsibility for self, No togetherness, and no spiritual guidance or foundation . Are how blacks have failed themselves.

Com'now True, tell it as it is. How will they know until some tells them. It is only through hearnig that people change. Doing the same thing, differently! I do not believe that for a minute. No one has to TELL a monkey that creates a monkey baby to take care of their offspring. No one has to TELL a bird to go and search for food for their offspring. WHY WHY does someone have to TELL human beings (the ones whom God created to have dominion over ALL the fish of the sea and ALL the birds of the air) to take care of their off springs. Time out for EXCUSES!!!! Men need to stand up and be men and women MOST definitely need to stand up and be WOMEN. I put more emphasis on the woman because it is TIME OUT for us to stop laying down with these men who we are not married to and creating all these babies. Get over our self esteem and "loneliness" issues and be REAL women of Standards, women of moral, and women with some HONOR. Women need to QUIT compromising ourselves just to have a man..... If women would act right than the men will HAVE to fall in place, otherwise who are they going to be with?

For me, Blacks failing themselves is secondary to, and a direct result of something so much deeper; Blacks failing God.
As I believe that Black people are the original and first of God's people, I also believe that failure, as well as the history and prophecy of it, reasons for it, and the only way out, are all to be found in the Truth of God's Word.
