Please let me know your thoughts...... atrue Simple answer, no. The God we worship isn't made by hands. And if you think about it, why would I worship something that I (or someone else) made?

That's my same thoughts.....reason being is this the church I attend during doxology the choir there backs to the congregation and its about 50 to 60 members and the whold choir with the exception of 2 of us hold their hands to the wooden cross that is in front of us.....and although they may thnk that its nothing but I have learned that why hold your arms up to a cross that Jesus is no longer there and not only that it is an idol. atrue

Some ppl really do things out of ignorance, they really dont know, If they thought it was idolatry im sure they would'nt be doing it. Would you put one being afraid to walk in the pulpit in the same category? I have seen ppl yell at kids and even adults for that matter for walking in the pulpit or touching the "communion table" Are these things sacred to God? Or are they just in the view of ppl? I see this as the same thing ......sort of....I dont see the purpose in saluting the cross....maybe to them that means acknowledging. So is it wrong to say the Pledge of Allegiance and put your hand over your heart and look towards the flag? Dont take these questions the wrong way, they are just for discussion purposes.....

I feel what you are saying.......I my self don't raise my hands to the cross and people have ask me why I don't do this and I told them that Jesus is no longer on the cross so why should I raise my hands to a cross when I know that Christ has risen. The bible says this that Jesus is God and the Old Testament forbids the making or worshiping of any such likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
The reason is found in the truth that the worship of God was and is to be spiritual, not material. The Lord stressed this in John 4 when He said, "but an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for such people the Father seeks to be His wordshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
A statue or a wooden cross that hangs above or over the baptism pool can never truly represent the truth about Christ and of necessity must misrepresent what Scripture teaches about Him. How long will it take for Christian to catch on to it. Having statues of Jesus or God result in two things, but of which are wrong. They easily slip into some form of idol worship and they misrepresent the truth. There is no way anything made by man could even begin to properly represent the full essence of God. As such, it would dishonor His infinite person and essence. atrue

This has to do with being respectful for the things in the house of God. And that certain things are set apart. I use to think that JW's were so weird for not saying it. Now, I don't say it at all. I don't pledge my allegiance to the flag because there may come a time when many things that are wrong are right in the eyes of the US and I can't stand for those things.

Understand that you may have what I call "tiered priorities" in life. Take the word "love" for example. Saying "I love my wife" is different than saying "I love cheesecake," which is different from saying "I love that song," which is different from saying "I love my job," etc. While I realize that my ULTIMATE allegiance is to God, I realize that I have lower (or lesser) allegiances in life, like marriage, family, church, etc.
